According to an unconfirmed story Elvis heard around april 1970 a demo from this song by John Phillips (Mamas and the Papas). Elvis was not allowed to record the song in order by Colonel Parker.
John Philips recorded the song in early 1970 for his album “John the wolfking of LA” (Dunhill DS 50077).

I don’t know it’s a demo version or an instrumental version. They have written the music for the soundtrack (see Girl happy cues).

It’s a pity there’s not much known about demo versions / musical sequence of the film music in the movie.

According to the Ottawa Citizen News Paper from 3 april 1957 the song was performed the previous day (2 april 1957) in Toronto.
The song was recorded in 1957 by Andy Williams (Cadence 1308).

The tune is based on the song Petite fleur (written in 1959 by Sidney Bechet); the song with new lyrics by Giant-Baum-Kaye was selected for the movie Frankie and Johnny. The demo version was rejected.

According to an unconfirmed story the song was offered to Elvis for recording in the 60’s.

The song is recorded in march 1956 by The Speer Family (RCA 20-6468 / 47-6468). Around 1963 released on an album. There’s a clip on Youtube.

The song is written by Don Robertson-Hal Blair for the movie Take me to the fair aka It happened at the world’s fair. The song was rejected in the pre-selection.

An acetate with this song from It happened at the world's fair was sold during an auction by EPE in 1999 (nr B 116)

The track was not included on CD Glen Campbell sings for the king.

According to the book "Elvis - Frame by frame" written by Bill Bram (page 239) the lyrics for the movie version are changed by the wife of sreenplaywriter Arnold Peyser.
The original version has more verses. Also a lot of lines were changed.
It's unknown at the moment if the longer version was recorded by Elvis in an earlier take.

The song was written by Buddy Kaye & Ben Weisman for the movie The trouble with girls.

These songs were written by Red West & Richard Mainegra. Registered for copyright 10 february 1970. Publisher Press Music.

Separate ways was selected by Elvis for recording on 27 march 1972. The song was recorded for the movie on Tour on 29 march 1972.
I’ve no information about the other (demo) recordings.
It’s known Red West – John Christopher - Richard Mainegra (sometimes with others) wrote lot of songs around these years. I don’t know Elvis got demo versions from all these songs (publisher Press Music).

Let's give Adam and Eve another chance was recorded in 1970 by Gary Puckett & The Union Gap.(Columbia 4 - 45097)
