Thanks Rex, I'm always wondering how it would be to cut and style his hair.

Mmm, Elvis cutting my hair, Brushing maybe.

Sorry to bump this few month old post.

But I didn't want to make a new one, since I'm new.

But, does anyone know how long (on average) it took Elvis to do his hair?

I can't find anything about it and I'm dying to know.

Thanks everyone. Love the pictures.

That is a very interesting question, I don't know.
I think maybe 10 minutes, that is almost the time for making a pomp hairdo.

Thanks for the reply. The reason I ask, is because in the pics of him doing the do, it looks like he's taking his time, making very precise adjustments and what not. Which is why he probably has thee best pompadour styled hair around.

It takes me about 10 or so minutes to get my hair going, but it's no where as picture perfect as his hair is.

Even when I try to take my time, I can never get it to look like anything he has ever done. (of course, different hair, cowlicks and all that jazz.)

Oh the hair. Gets me everytime.

Love this shot. Never have seen this picture before. Very cool with it catching his reflection in the mirror.

I have tried so many times to get that classic Elvis look on me, but I don't seem to get it right... sad.gif . Any recomendations?

my question is what did elvis use on his hair in the 50's . i had some pic's somewhere if i can find of him with a vaseline hair tonic bottle on his bathroom counter , dj fontana told me brylcreem but i think he used that in 60's . i think he used the hair tonic in the 50's , or maybe a pomade , any idea's
TheRebelRouser
I was just about to ask that!

Some say he used Slick Black pomade, which is why his hair had a blue hue to it (it's a black pomade, originally designed to black out the gray hairs.) But I think it was from him dying his hair jet black.

I could swear he used pomade. Other products couldn't get his hair to stay in a pompadour style. Stuff like Brylcreem and hair tonics are more so for the "wet" hair styles, such as a slick backs or side parts.

I'd think he'd use Black & White Pomade, as it was made in Tennessee, and would give the hold and sheen his hair had.

Every pomade brand will claim "IT'S THE STUFF ELVIS USED!" But unless you were there, it's hard to say...

Antje
Maybe Rex will know this? (he knows about everything if you ask me)
But I read he used Vaseline hair tonic, and for pomade he use Dixie peach or Lovers moon,
I also read something about royal crown but I think that was the favorite of Johnny Cash
TheRebelRouser
Hey all,

I know some of you like to sport the pompadour, so...

For those looking for a product to get a real proper "Elvis styled pompadour," check out www.HairgumUSA.com. Their pomade is amazing. It's perfect for those with either thick or thin hair, straight, wavy, whatever. It's got just the right amount of hold to style your hair accordingly.

They've given me a promo-code for my blog, to share with everyone. 30% off your order, which is awesome. The code is live until July 4th, so you all have plenty of time.

As you're checking out, just type REBELROUSER as a promo-code, knock 30% off and it'll be at your doorstep in no time.

I'm not paid for this, nor am I going to be, I just figured Elvis fans would appreciate a good product for a great hairstyle.

Thanks all.

Plus, it gives me a reason to bump this thread! Haha.
