Sometimes while i'm in a boot sale here in Malta i come across some stuff.

last sunday i came across a Moody Blue LP black vinyl and didn't buy it for 5 Euros because it was a tad worn...never relized how much it would be worth if it was the USA '77 pressing...thouh I fear it was the UK pressing. I'd appreciate if someone could come up with some pics of the cover and labels for each edition.

However another time i bought an Arcade Records 2 LP set...i'd like to know how much it's worth:

another I ran across is this one. Any info would be much appreciated NL 48024(2):

Thanks Neil.

regarding the Moody Blue Vinyl....after searching for hour I came across an auction on Ebay

A Canadian Pressing of the LP is auctioned at $150, and as soon as I looked at the pictures I realized that The label was exactly the same colour of the one I came across

It's good to hear that your Camden Christmas album isn't alone anymore Gordon! (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Moody Blue:
If the labels looked like the one you've posted it probably is a Canadian pressing. With a few exceptions USA and Canada shared catalogue numbers and label designs, but from "Welcome To My World" (the LP that came just before "Moody Blue") the Americans introduced their new black label which had the Nipper dog logo back for the first time since 1968. Though the US and Canadian pressings look very similar, the Canadian ones from this period carry the maple leaf that's in their flag on the back cover. I don't have the UK version anymore, but if I remember right it has orange labels (and different cat. no. PL 12428).

Elvis' 40 Greatest:
This double album was originally a British idea and when released for the Christmas market in 1974 it made it to no. 2 in the UK charts. It would be the best selling UK LP and was in and out of the charts through 1975, 1976 and 1977. When Elvis died it returned to the top 10. It was in the NME chart for a total of 32 weeks.
Since it was a smash in the UK several countries would press and release the album too.

Elvis Forever:
This is an Italian version of a very successfull German 1974 double album - kinda their version of "40 Greatest" (though it only had 32 tracks). Italian RCA released several albums in this Lineatre series with frames of coloured lines.

They're three great albums and since they were all sold in huge numbers they are very affordable to obtain.

That's great info Michael...many, many thanks.

Do you find any of them "things to treausre more than others"? or are they just normal pieces which you can easily find anywhere?

Ok...I could say i was lucky....I found the Moody Blue LP, still from the same guy......BUT it was the Italian 1977 Black Vinyl pressing, not the Canadian one..not sure if it is worth anything more than the normal Blue vinyl releases..but anyway still had to pay $6 for it (ouch).

While playing the record I wanted to cry...it skipped 6 times (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/crying.gif)

Then I gave it a nice clean up...playing it for the second time has gone down to only 1 skip in Unchained Melody...will give it another cleaning and hopefully...it will play smoothly lol.

Sorry to hear that Gordon. That's the danger of buying vinyl records. It can be difficult to see how damaging the scratches are. It's good that you didn't pay anymore for it than you did.

Better luck next time... (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/thumbup.gif)

Could very well have been dust or something like that. For myself I've used alcohol in the past for cleaning, worked quite well.

I use a purplu spirit (can't recall the name of it now)...in the olden days we used to use in for the tripod stoves. It workd very well with glass and vinyl i find.

Anyways..does anyone know which were the main countries that produced these records under the RCa name? and if so...what differences are there in content, quality and worth?

addition:

the Moody blue LP:
first release with black label and Nipper near on to; the vivyl switched from blue to black and with Elvis' death into blue again.

the catalogue numer is AFL1-2428

canadian pressings can be recognized because in general there is french language on the cover too.

the Arcade LP
first licensed to Arcade but with the great succes RCA releases their own version
(in pink vinyl) (PL 42691)
later on RCA in UK spliced the LP into Greatests hits vol 1-2 with a release in 1981

Ints 5115/ NL 89025 & Ints 5116 / NL 89168 for the european market

I have no knowledge for italian releases.

spanish-french-italian releases sometimes turned up in western europe but most of the LP releases werd german and sometimes british.
