don't throw away your import CD "Surrender by Elvis";
on this CD are some tracks that are not on the FTD:

He knows just what I need - take 9;
Mansion over the hilltop - take 3 with f.s.;
In my father's house - take 8 + workpart take 1;

To hear the main man at his best,play him singing his fav type of songs ie,gospel.

From the 1st track to the last,hear a man in a world of his own = MAGIC.

This has become one of my favorite releases from FTD. Elvis is in a word, awesome." These sessions truly produced some wonderful material.

A review of HIS HAND IN MINE...

During his lifetime, Elvis Presley recorded three gospel albums and a four-song gospel EP. Presley's first full-length gospel album, HIS HAND IN MINE, sticks close to the quartet-style gospel singing Elvis loved as a youngster in Memphis. In fact, most of the arrangements on HIS HAND IN MINE mimic arrangements used by two of Elvis' favorite groups, the Statesmen and the Memphis-based Blackwood Brothers. The influence of such black gospel quartets as the Swan Silvertones and the Golden Gate Quartet, whom Elvis would have known through radio broadcasts, can also be heard on many numbers. As on all recordings inspired by the musical enthusiasm of his youth, Elvis shines on HIS HAND IN MINE, singing with breathtaking passion and dexterity. The first twelve songs on this disc, all classics of the genre, constitute the album as it was originally released in 1960.

My favorite of his gospel albums is How Great Thou Art, but His Hand In Mine is great, also. In fact, this FTD Deluxe version puts everything in perspective for me and gives me an appreciation for this album that I didn't have before. If you enjoy Elvis' gospel recordings you can't go wrong with this.
