Notes:

One of the famous "Request Box Shows". After this show all the further Elvis concerts were cancelled and Elvis was flown back to mephis and admitted to the Hospital.

Beacuse of the request the running order is totally different than usual and the opening medley (the 1st and only time he would open with a medly) sounds greatly refreshing. The sound is very acceptable for a audience recording.

6 tracks were previously released on the LP " Vegas Years" around 1978; here is the concert nearly complete for the first time.

I don't have this cd, but I have heard most of it on-line... and I gotta say, it was quite shocking to learn that
after this show, the rest of the engagement was cancelled. When I first heard the opening medley That's All
Right/See See Rider/That's All Right
, I would have never quessed something was wrong... Elvis was rockin' the
hell out of it... but apparently, something was wrong... (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/confused.gif)

It sounds that the opening 2001 theme comes from a (slightly) better source,or it's edited from another performance.

The sound on the show itself is pretty good, like all the recordings where on this engagement.
This show is rather short, about 45 minutes and the introductions takes also lots of time of it.
What's over are about 11 songs he sang in full...among them lucky great versions.
I think the audience deserved a bit more...it seemed Elvis couldn't leave Vegas soon enough...

The Vegas shows from this year where almost all very good to perfect.

If this season could be completed it would have been no different.
All the shows had a varied tracklist and (despite the rumours) he sings very good and inspired.

My pleasure Donna!!
I really dig this short season.
The five shows where all so relaxed and very well done...there's not a hint he would be in the hospital the day after this show... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/undecided.gif)

This is about my best Mate... "JOHN ANDREWS" THAT Travelled to Vegas with me in August 1972.

At the end of the week, he returned Home as planned.....

And instead of Going home like I was supposed to... waved them Goodbye and stayed for 27 shows.

Of course on that Last night, when Tom took me backstage, if John had stayed he would have made the Elvis Meeting With Me.

--------------
John went most August seasons 1973-74 etc., but never got the chance to MEET ELVIS.

--------------
for 1975..... John flew into L.A. the same Morning Elvis had cancelled the rest of the Engagement.
Being told by Virginia Coons at the airport.... that he wouldn't be seeing any shows that trip....

How unlucky can that be.....

That's really bad luck...
All the money spend;the hopes of seeing his idol live again...
All gone...
How reacted John to this cancelled engagement Rex?
Dissapointed?
Understanding Elvis' departure? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/undecided.gif)
