Interested to hear if the Computer Sound systems have taken over from traditional stereo systems (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/undecided.gif)
I use my i-pod an aweful lot. But, still like to play my CDs on my Sony Hi-Fi system. The sound on it is awesome and you get the full benefit of everything Elvis by playing through a decent system. Thats the way it is FTD was uncredible sound when played on my Sony. Has the PC taken over, or do many of you still have and use Hi-Fi systems ? -------------------- Regards Shaun

That's a good question Shaun. Believe it or not, I listen to most of my music on my pc. I prefer the nice USB headphones as opposed to the PC speakers, has a much richer, fuller sound from the headphones.
I play on the home theater system occasionally, but given my infirmity, I really do most of my listening through the PC or my iPod. While I prefer to have original CD's to MP3, I do load my CD's into iTunes and take it from there, and would imagine that most these days use a PC based music system, iTunes or whatever else is out there. I really haven't downloaded much Elvis from iTunes....I think I may have downloaded the remastered Kissin' Cousins soundtrack, which was an iTunes exclusive last year. Aside from that I just load my original CD's to iTunes and I'm set for some serious listening! LOL! Great thread topic, Shaun! Alot of it on the PC.....as i write most of my collection to MP3 for the Radio shows....but you really can't beat the sound on my stereo system. It doesn't get the use it once did....but i sure wouldn't want to be without it. Its based on a 200W per channel Amp with a 5cd Sony Player ( separates ) and churns out the sound in a serious way ! I like playing my Elvis loud...No, kidding, I usually play his songs on the PC with hi-fi stereo sub-woofer...and be aware, I have no idea what a sub-woofer means haha, but all I know is that it makes Elvis sound awesome and then I also play his songs in a standard CD player (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Decent PC systems have good sound....but most of the time i agree with you Kev (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/LSHIC.gif) Can't beat the sound from a real system.... (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/notworthy.gif) To an extent i agree. But also bear in mind that the speakers inside your headphones have nothing like the dynamic range that real Hi Fi speakers have....and i don't mean loudness here.....in headphones you can actually be missing quite alot from the recording that you can hear on real speakers.... I combine the two. Most of my Elvis CDs are stored on my PC at a high bit rate but I then stream the music wirelessly to my hi fi system. This lets me play any song, any album at any time. No more searching through 100's of cds trying to find a particular song.
It is also great to let the streamer play randow tracks. With several thousand tracks you never know what is going to come up next, great fun and a way to hear tracks you haven't listened to for years. Michael |

Unfortunately I don't have a decent sound system at home at the moment, so everything is played trough my pc. I have a set of good speakers though with a seperate sub-woofer for the bass. When financials will become better I will defenately buy a good, high standard, sound sytem !
