Elvis attacks See See Rider real energetic en his voice is strong too. The show is pretty nice with a beautiful And I Love You So and 2 strong versions of Hurt. The most interesting fact is, for die-hard concert collectors, that this is one of the very few times is that Elvis asks Jerry Scheff to play the solo in Polk Salad Annie after 1972. When Jerry left in 1973 Polk Salad Annie was dropped [only 2 performances in 1973, 1 with Jerry and 1 without] untill 1974. By then James was asked the play the solo and it remained that way, with only a few exceptions, untill the last performance of Polk Salad Annie on June 2nd 1977. -------------------- "How do I get placed in situations like this? Rhis is a helluva show, just like the title claims, Elvis is in good mood and when he delivers a strong C.C Rider you allready know the show will follow the same standard. The really big highlights in my opinion are "You gave me a mountain","America" and ofcourse "Hurt".

I agree Einar. If you compare the versions of See See Rider from Atlanta (June 6th 1976), which is technically the show before this one, with this performance, then the difference is shocking. I have to say that this version is probably the best I've heard him do in most of the '75-'76 area.

I agree Stefan, from what I hear during CC Rider from 6/6/76 in Atlanta it sounded like Elvis was half asleep. The version from this show much better indeed.
------------------------------------------------------- This is one Helluva concert indeed. First thing that impressed me with this release when I first heard it was the sound, which is very good. I really like hearing versions of Burning Love done in '75 and '76 and the version on this release is very good. Overall a really good concert from 1976! |
