QUOTE (MattC @ Mar 22 2007, 04:50 AM) Henk, you got me thinking. If I'm not mistaken this is the same song Mariah Carey did about 13 years ago. But the title on her cd is called "Without You". Am I on the right page here or is this a different song? I'm almost certain I have heard Voice do their version of that song............ It's Midnight is my favorite song from this cd, simply because you can tell he's singing it directly to Cilla, "Listen Cilla" Without You was a updated version by Mariah Carey. This is the same song as Nilsson's No 1. -------------------- Frank

You lucky thing!!!
I have read the book about the Desert Storm shows...and although I don't go along with all that is said there...it does seem that the audience really enjoyed the show....and his singing was wonderful....well...I guess I'm preaching to the converted....you were there..... (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) Am I right in thinking he wore the light coloured leather two piece suit.....and put on the karate ghi to perform his karate during If You Talk In Your Sleep? Blimey - you were so lucky lol (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) -------------------- Jean

Also this cd and the Fort Baxter you do not hear the audience because they are soundboard recordings this give the idea to the idiot critics that we all sat there in stunned silence through the show? more so when Elvis got mad.......wrong again big time!! we were clappin, jumpin and shoutin "Go on Elvis you tell em!!" also can I add I was not stuck at the back of the showroom I was at the end of the ramp, middle stage and i got to see everything!! he was in command all through the show...never slurred his words...sang fantastic....his Karate was something else,,,,Jean it was FANTASTIC! and i am sick and tired of all those...who were "NOT" at the show calling it? Dennis This is a pic of the show Jean.......Tiger suit. (the TIME TO DARE pics are not from the show)

Mine is the Fort Baxter cd....I have always said he didn't slur his words.....I have heard him in other concerts where he did.....and even then, when he sounded bad while talking, he always sounded great as soon as he started singing...but I just thought he was angry here......fantastic to find someone who was there though......thanks for your comments!

Mine is a direct copy for an orig: Audience Tape to Reel to Reel, from a really good Close friend, that attended (I don't have the Soundboard-YET) My Elvis Weekly's first Vegas Aug'74 season report was in ISSUE No.164 (dated 30th August)from a NY friend. Issue No. 165, had a 22 minute England to Vegas phone call to JOHN Andrews(from Malvern) then every issue carried reviews from No 166 -to- 180 (which was printed 20th November 1974) carried 2 to 6 pages on this season, covering from Opening to Closing in great detail-(songs-Jumpsuits etc.,) I was still trying to keep up with all the Fan Reviews, when the October Tour show reports started arriving, and then the Tahoe season also. Issue 180 carried the final nights shows in very great detail... John Andrews wrote (extract) "...BUT I FEEL SURE HIS FANS WHO HAVEN'T SEEN THE SHOWS WOULD WANT TO HEAR ELVIS' OWN WORDS AND NOT SOMEONE'S HALF ACCURATE MIS-INTERPRETATION OF THEM. It is a pity those rumours were spread about Elvis, but I suppose Elvis must be used to such maliciousness against him by the press now, sadly. Vegas may have its drawbacks, but it still remains the best place to see him perform." Many quotes from my Elvis Weekly Vegas reviews (16 issues of them) are slightly taken out of context in Careless Love, by Peter Guralnick. He takes a line from one report and links it to a line from say Sue Wiegart, and another line from a news paper report. Which just gives a very dis-jointed View. He did credit everyone for all the lines he lifted, and did mention how much he was impressed by an Elvis Publication, pretty well covering in great detail, this season from Opening to Closing. -------------------- |

It would be great to see them reports on this season Rex. It's one of my favorite engagements & have all the shows from the season (apart from the missing show) & a lot of photos but it would be good to see what info you have on this season because I may have a lot of wrong info. -------------------- |

Couldn't agree with you more Dennis !
I wasn't at the show....man..i wish that i was....but i have always enjoyed the show and been suprised about the negative comments it gets. I love the CD to bits....always have.....and always raise a smile when Elvis tells 'em ! In no way does he slur his words IMO....far from it. A cool show from start to finish in my book (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/notworthy.gif) -------------------- |

Not long after we all got back to the UK Anne Nixon sent me a tape of the show, even though the sound was not the greatest I was thrilled with it.
The first time the show turned up on a bootleg was on the lp "Kickin Back" (see pic) although only part of the show it was great to have.........Then when the Fort Baxter cds come along I was "Over the moon"!!....even not complete I was "Buzzin" (still am) "A Time to Dare" is ok as a complete show (mix/Baxter/audience) but the cover and booklet let it down by sayin the pics are from the show? Of course the greatest recording for me is in my "head" and I play it all the time!!!!! (The very first bootleg release I got of that "season" was not the closing show,.... it was called "Elvis is Alive and Well and Singing in Las Vagas"....But it was a taste of what was to come!

When the LP Elvis is alive and well singing in Las Vegas was released for the first time around 1975/76 you'll hear live versions from songs that were not released in that way by RCA/BMG. The sound is very good for audience recordings.
The LP is re-released a few times (even as part of double LP The Vegas years) but there excists a version from the LP with studio tracks overdubbed with applause and other noise probably recorded at a crowded railway station. colonel snow -------------------- |

It just cracks me up to hear Elvis unloading and then saying his trademark..."Thang You"...(IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
...and then of all things he goes into Hawaiian Wedding Song...LOL! Atleast he did not go into one of his gospel songs...can you hear him going into a gospel song like How Great Thou Art after using the Lord's name in vain? DOH!!!! -------------------- Ho, Moody Blue!
