I'm typing this while playing 3 LP Box Blue Hawaii sessions; it's a pity that it's incomplete here. Great sound, at any case better then LP set on TCB label with wrong speed / poor sound.

I'm playing a homemade CDR with audience recording from 11 december 1975. (Through the years I've transferred all my cassette tapes to CDR if they were not released on CD)

Just finished listening to the FTD release, "Unchained Melody." A good release which give nearly the complete February 20, 1977 concert at Charlotte, North Carolina. Also some nice bonus songs from that tour. All in all, a good release covering some good performances from that tour. A nice job by FTD.
Once critique I have, I never really liked the way Elvis "goofed" around with "Why Me Lord." It is such a terrific song and when performed with seriousness, it was a memorable performance. I really like the way that Elvis and The Stamps with J.D. Sumner singing lead, play off each other and with the musical arrangement, it made for a wonderful listening experience. The drama in the original recordings of this song drove home the importance of the message contained within the lyrics. I never liked the "goofing" as I said and by 1977 is was just not even funny any more. By 1977, Elvis continuing the comedy act of this song, cheapens a wonderful song and makes him look totally unprepared and unprofessional. I completely agree with you; it's a serious song. Joking with throw away live versions with Teddy bear is acceptable but not Why me Lord.
Did you ever heard the "solo" version of Why me Lord on 22 july 1975? It's sung without the Stamps. colonel snow -------------------- |

A friend played the version from Asheville with Elvis singing lead. The quality was OK, and I liked Elvis singing the lead. It sounded so different. Perhaps if Elvis and sometimes sing the lead and sometimes have J.D. Sumner sing the lead, would have been better.
I agree with you about joking with this song. It is a serious song and Kris Kristofferson wrote it out of his own life experiences. With the 1975-77 versions I always felt Elvis should have given the song more respect. Thanks M-M -------------------- "Until we meet you again may God Bless You"

The FTD release was expensive and heavy; this set you can handle easy.
On the new set the intro of I forgot to remember to forget (wire recording) is edited comparing the version on Youtube; the Mae Boren Axton interview is omitted but you live without these. colonel snow -------------------- |
