although not in the best sound quality this has to be one of Elvis best mid 70's concerts. I rate this show even a bit higher than the Asheville shows a few days later. Never heard stronger versions of Big Boss Man, If You Love Me or the rare medley of Bososm Of Abraham/You Better Run.
Don't Be Cruel has a funny ending, You Gave Me A Mountain the "loss of eye" and "blamed for the loss of a shoe" lines and Mystery Train/Tiger Man doesn't get any better than it is here. This cd might not ahve the best sound but you can hear Elvis jsut fine. His voice sounded just great during this concert, especially during You Gave Me A Mountain, one of my favorite versions of the song, and a great burning love also.

the first pressing of this CD consist of one track with the whole concert; later pressings have 27 tracks.
the concert is not complete as some of the introductions are edited out. first released as a 2 LP set in 1980. this (tape) source was also used for this CD colonel snow --------------------  |

I think this a rather good concert. Elvis was definitely in a good mood, and gave some very good
performances, although I'd say that maybe he was also a little too talkative during some of the songs. This show features great versions of See See Rider and Big Boss Man, and a very strong Trying To Get To You. But the highlight for me was definitely the medley Bosom Of Abraham/You Better Run, with Charlie singing the lead, and Elvis himself singing the bass. A true live rarity. And it seems like always when Elvis sang gospel songs in concert, they became the highlights... just like when he sang You'll Never Walk Alone on piano during the evening show on the same day... all I can say is WOW! Imagine if he'd done a gospel concert, featuring only gospel songs... (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/thumbup.gif) |

LP Live in '75
To be released in 1979 on Ready teddy records RTRV 2001-2. Cover prepared but no vinyl. It contains the 19-07-75 matinee show as released later on LP America's own (1980) and CD. It is included in the Elvis bootleg book (entry 658). colonel snow
