Got this this morning and listened to it in the car on the way to a cross county meeting. Really, really enjoyed it. I love the songs on this - yes I LOVE Three Corn Patches and always have! Again listening in the car lets me hear the lyrics better without the distractions of a book or forum in front of me (except all those pesky cars!) Lyrics to If You Don't Come Back are worth a good listen to, nice dialogue between Elvis and the Sweets.
Highlight though is track 17 CD2 and the "illow" cracked me up that did! I'd certainly recommend this alongside I Sing All Kinds - beautiful! -------------------- |

for the one liner fans:
before take 13 of Three corn patches an one liner can be heard on the new FTD Raised on rock; Elvis sings Three coins in a fountain. This song originates from a musical around 1954 and was recorded by Frank Sinatra in 1954 and again in 1964. colonel snow -------------------- |

Had this on the player for two day's now, and to be honest i don't think this is gonna be off for a long time yet,
these have alway's been some of my fav track's from the seventie's and now to get some great outake's in fab sound and more superb between take banter make's my year. best crack for me is Track 15 side 2 "Gonna find the writer and crush his finger's,an brake all his pen's" man that crack's me up (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/LSHIC.gif) -------------------- Out there in the dark , there's a beckoning candle

This is indeed a fabulous FTD, and one that puts the session in a better light, although not as much as 'The Jungle Room Sessions' did for Elvis '76 material. Haven't listened to the whole two cd's yet, but am getting there (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/woohoo.gif)

I am really looking forward to recieveing my copy of this one. I have always liked the "Raised on Rock" album and felt it was very underappreciated, at least here in the USA.

I've also always liked three corn patches as well as most of the songs on this cd. It's always been mentioned as a bad cd by some. I disagree. |

This CD is blasting through my speakers as I type this. I have been trying to go and listen to the FTD's I have and went from Good Times to this. Don't know what it is but playing the first disc for the second time it has me hooked. Absolutley adore the songs Sweet Angeline, For Ol Times Sake, I Miss You, such lovely ballads. I see on other sites they disregard the 1973 sessions but to me they produced some of the best songs Elvis recorded. I'm usually in the minority in that respect but I don't mind, I love this album!

Indeed some great songs but except "I miss you" all covers as recorded by other artists in the past. (see US album section for more details.)

Good badt but beautiful
The song was recorded in 1973 by Ronnie Hilton in the UK (Columbia DB 9019). I have information about a recording date. In 1975 Shirley Bassey recorded her version. colonel snow
