ELVIS DAMAGES HIS "RIGHT" HAND WHEN DID IT HAPPEN.... ? HOW DID IT HAPPEN ? 2nd September 1974 - ELVIS Final Night in Vegas - Sheila Ryan is With Elvis in Vegas. 3rd September 1974 - With Sheila he goes to see Tom Jones at Caesars Palace. 4th September 1974 - attends the VIKKI CARR opening night at the Tropicana with Sheila 5th September 1974 - Flys out to L.A. that evening, with Sheila 6th September 1974 - Buy his 3rd STUTZ BLACKHAWK a 1973 model - in LA. 9th September 1974 - for 5 days with Sheila in Palm Springs. 14 -September 1974 - Travels to Memphis (Without Sheila) 15 -September 1974 - Probably does some Karate. 16 -September 1974 - With Linda at Graceland. Attends TENN KARATE INSTITUTE -------------------------with Bill Wallace, Ed Parker & Dave Hebler. The Memphis Commercial Appeal are invited for the Docu-Film announcement (THE GLADIATORS)
This Picture shows Elvis with a Small Plaster across the back of his RIGHT HAND. The Top of his hand has swollen and a patch is very dark. Still from the 16th September... at TENNESSEE KARATE INSTITUTE
During more Karate Demonstrations... Elvis damages his hand slightly more, splitting the Skin on the Top. This time it is re-dressed, replacing the Plaster Strip, with a Larger Bandage, that is Padded with Lint underneath. On this Photo, an Original High Quality 10 x 8" glossy you can see the new dressing ! But worse, Elvis just carries on with the Demonstration, with the possiblity of Damaging it more. From what I have heard and read, Elvis did that to him self (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused.gif)
Just so he could go to one of his doctors to get drugs (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused.gif) The last months of 1974 was no good for Elvis, he was sick and nobody could help him (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused.gif) --------------------   |

Elvis was really into his KARATE film over these and the next few days....
The cameras started Rolling on this day.. He is very focused on his Demonstrations. Its of course foolish for him to carry on with Karate Moves..... But the Camera Crew was booked and the film rolling... He probably thought he had no Choice ! You can see this in the just released KARATE FILM "GLADIATORS" and also long clips as shown in THIS IS ELVIS. This picture without any dressing ~ shows the Dark PATCH on the back of His hand and the Swelling

The pictures with Kang Rhee have been listed as 9th Sept. (Pauls Picture Site etc), but this is wrong. !
Elvis had from the 16th to around the 25th, to take part in Karate Shows. The 17th Sept.. lists Elvis as going on a buying spree for Motor Vehicles and a Large Trailer. He probably would still have had time later in the Day~Night for Karate. The 21st September... is around the day listed for Elvis with the Help of Linda Draw up a list of the all time Karate Champions, in the different types of Karate... that he would have liked in his Docu-Movie. By the 26th September.. he was having to get ready for his next tour.... In this Picture, taken during this week, Elvis arrives outside with Dave Hebler, looks So-So.. Rex you be the man. I had no idea all that was going on at this time in Elvis's life. He was a real trouper to keep going with his hand damaged like that.

The damage to his hand may of started 30/31 august,...between shows Elvis was breaking bricks and jamed his hand, it was swollen for a few days.
He said to us ......"check out the picks on the back of the Gi Blues album cover" .....Elvis must have done the same back then, you can see how bad it was swollen!...(see the film also) Its possible it may not of healed and infected later ? I also read somewhere his hand was scratched by a fan and got infected?

Doesn't mention anything about Elvis' hand for the whole of its SEPTEMBER 1974 DATES. Neither does it list any trips to the Doctors. ! ! ! or the Strap bandage on his hand for the End of September, and start of October Tours. He doesn't mention anything about Elvis' Damaged Hand. Jerry is Executive Producer on the Karate film... He must have known something, but for some reason just Omits it. The following we have his thoughts on Elvis' State of Health. (Spring to Summer 1974 period) QUOTE There was something awful and scary about watching a guy who had once been such a perfect physical specimen just fall apart. Elvis was undeniably overweight now, and had respiratory problems, intestinal ailments, liver dysfunction, and early-stage glaucoma, all of which had been induced or exacerbated by his work schedule and his overuse of prescription medications. I had to admit that, getting him checked into the hospital, I also felt a sense of relief. Maybe a hospital stay was what it was going to take to wake him up and get him strong again. The doctors at the hospital were puzzled by some strange bruises on Elvis's body, which he said were from acupuncture treatments he received in Los Angeles. The doctors at Baptist couldn't figure out how acupuncture needles could leave such bruises, and Dr. Nick tracked down the acupuncturist to make some inquiries about his procedure. It turned out that this doctor was helping the acupuncture process along by administering shots of Demerol, a powerful painkiller. The doctors at the hospital realized that in addition to having his other ailments treated, Elvis was going to have to be carefully weaned off a doctor-created opiate addiction. Elvis did get well. He got off the medicines that weren't doing him any good; he lost weight; he started sleeping better; and he even started eating better (though it was hard for the cooks at Graceland not to want to spoil their "patient" by serving him his favorite dishes). After a couple months of rest and recuperation, he looked good and had better energy than any of us had seen in a while. This is a strange picture.. the Plaster Strip seems to have vanished up Elvis' Sleeve !
