Elvis' 1968 television special featured Elvis at his best with some of the richest moments in music history ever filmed for television. Considered ground-breaking at the time, his 1968 television special still has a contemporary feel and Elvis' informal jam sessions in front of a small audience is regarded as a forerunner of the "unplugged" concept. The show, taped in June 1968, first aired the following December 3 on NBC-TV, attracting 42% of the television viewing audience, making it the network's biggest ratings victory that year and the season's top-rated show. This collection, on loan from the Graceland Archives, features beautiful black and white photography of Elvis from this career-changing, historic event, including photos of Elvis in his iconic black leather suit. Come down to the Museum January 7-31 to leave your birthday message by The King's bike & enjoy the exclusive display. Museum Members can see the full collection online in the Members Only section. "The Wild one" clearly was an insperation for Elvis. I think he would have been gold in Marlon Brandos role in that movie. Mr.Brandon was king in that role himself, but I think Elvis would have been great in that role himself, ofcourse Parker would have turned it into "I was the one" with the singing MC gang leader. Still it would have been a "King Creole" good movie.
