The book was not quite what i had hoped for. Although it is nice...great pictures..it does focus mainly on the 50's. Which i found suprising from a book that contained two 70's concerts.
The 70's pictures that are there are nice. Some i had never seen before. But the concerts themselves make this worth while. The '74 is a good solid show...though the sound is not what i would describe as 'perfect'. It is good sound though. The '76 show..i have to say i was very impressed with. Good performance and extremely good sound. Much better than the '74 show. Its alot of money.....and alot of fans seem happy to leave this one. But i would recommend it for the concerts alone. The price was not bad considering it had the two cds with it...so for me...much recommended (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/cheers.gif) -------------------- |

this is definately worth having if you don't already have it. the only thing i would add is that the 74 show ends before can't help falling in love is over. you'd think they would have a complete show to put on this. still a great cd though. the 76 show is the best of the two. Without a doubt the best book/cd set they released so far (although 50's fans will disagree with me here (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/laughing1.gif) (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/laughing1.gif) ). I realy love the concerts, especially the '76 one ... the standing ovation at the end of America The Beautiful is fantastic, as was the performance of that song (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/king.gif)

I thought the book and the CD's were well worth the money. I agree with the comment above about America the Beautiful and Elvis' reaction to the audience response. The photos in the book were magnificent.
The CD's are special for a very personal reason. On that June tour of 1974 I saw 2 of the concerts on that very tour. And the 1976 release I saw one of the shows from that particular tour! M-M -------------------- "Until we meet you again may God Bless You"

I truly like this special release. The book, IMHO, is fantastic. I enjoy both of the CD for very personal reasons. The concert from 1974 is special because I attended two of the concerts from that June 74 tour. The 1976 show is special because I attended a show during that tour as well.

M-M It would be fantastic if you could tell some more about the shows you attended in the All Elvis section, just like how it was, what your feelings were, how the shows were and were you disapointed when you saw him in '76 as opposite to the '74 shows ..?? questions, questions and more questions This post has been edited by stefan: Nov 27 2005, 01:22 PM -------------------- "How do I get placed in situations like this? I'll be happy to post my experiences at all of the Elvis concerts I attended. I attended nearly a dozen concerts throughout the '70s. My first concert was in 1971 during the November 71 tour, and the final time I saw Elvis was in May 1977. If you have any specific questions, I will be happy to try and answer them for you.

haven't seen the book, but for me the cds are OK, I don't think I would put out the money as expensive as it is, my choice would be a third place ranking on this one in terms of the book packages from ftd, Al

Kind of understandable i guess Al. Though i do love the concerts...i think that the 76 one is especially strong and in good sound. The lack of pics from the 70's was a small let down for me. But take into account the fact that there are two cd's included in the set...the price wasn't really that bad.
The other big let down for me is that lack of cd covers. I think that they should have included some covers for the cd's...even if they were only cardboard versions.....something they should think about if and when we have another book release -------------------- |

I received this item late last year, and I find the concerts to be quite enjoyable. I was a bit disappointed in the sound quality on the 1974 show, but the 1976 show is actually quite good in my opinion for a show for this period.
Can't figure why they used so many fifties photographs in the book though? |
