I haven't checked this place out in a few days. been busy. but it seems to me that there are simply no good discussions taking place anymore. It seems like this place is dying a slow death. Where' s all the members. We have like 10 mods and u only see a handfull of them on. Maybe we should look at this place as fun place to be and discuss instead of a job of having to just post news, mixes, and stuff and actually start threads and discuss.if all the mods aren't going to be involved then how can we expect the members too also..well im out.maybe this will motivate some.

BUT, and a huge but it is, of all the forums this is the best for me for many reasons. I go to two others and both of them seem to be dominated by self-opinionated numpties who are more interested in their own self-aggrandisement than in the genuine process of learning more about Elvis or just enjoying one anothers company. You're not suppossed to like the 70's or have any regard or respect for Lisa-Marie, Priscilla etc in these places which sometimes confounds me when people are savaged for liking something. Its as if Elvis taught them nothing and Rock and Roll is turned into the opposite of what it is and becomes a field of expertise.

I guess the above is an example of what we are not but what about a positive analysis of what we are?
Well where else can we get the exclusive pictures which Kenny so often generously shares with the fans. Where else could we get the great work of ElvisMixer especially and others sharing their devotion to the music. We have the designs section where our own main man regularly puts to shame the attempts of the official cover designers and does so not with pride but with enormous encouragement for the rest of us who enjoy trying such projects ourself. We even, uniquely, have the 10% off deal with Chris-G at the Elvis shop London.

Not everyone comes to the radio show but there is definitely to be found good company and friendship and if TKC is about anything else then that's what its about.

The most successful Elvis magazine, Elvis: The Man and His Music, works so well because rants are few and far between as are sugary devotions to Elvis. I think we do the same here, maybe its because both are Brits and really we do prefer a cup of tea with friends rather than a drunken brawl. I'm so sorry you feel that way Brad.I hope you will reconsider and come back to the forum.I can't speak for the other mods,but even I have not joined in as much as I usually do because of family commitments..So if I answer they are usually short and sweet.Sometimes my interest in Elvis goes up and down too.

I do come to TKC because it is a fun and friendly place to be.I'm sure you took Conors comment the wrong way....sorry if you did.I think you are nice guy Brad.If you want to PM me please do

The trouble with topics on Elvis forums is they have been discussed before on other forums. If you are not a member of other Elvis forums the topics would be new.
This forum has nearly 800 members with a little handful of regulars posting. If all the members posted we could have a wide choice of topics to talk about. I don't know why some members bother joining in the first place.
On some forums we get the know it all Elvis fans. Which upsets some of us fans who don't research Elvis history but know enough to talk about it.

I always feel that this is the friendliest forum for Elvis fans.

The reason I don't post many articles is because I feel that there is not that much to say anymore.My main interest is in the music side of things ,so when I feel that I have something interesting to share I surely will.

I agree that there is too much ego- based opinions on other Elvis forums which revolves more around the posters opinions than on the legacy that Elvis left behind.

Let's not forget that Elvis is all about having fun and appreciating the wonderful music he left behind.

Excellent post FC. Brad, you have indeed taken FCs post the wrong way.

I love this place because we all do have similar opinions on things. The difference is, at other places if you have a different opinion you are automatically wrong according to certain posters. Not only do they claim that you are wrong, but things sometimes start to get personal. That doesn't happen here. At least, not that i have seen. I stopped visiting FECC simply because of that reason. The few spoiling it for the majority. This place is much more civil. Even if it is too quiet for my liking at times, its still home.

I too get frustrated Brad. I turned down Chris' offer of being a moderator a while ago because i can't give the time that such a postition should need IMO. But, thats my decision. I certainly wouldn't stop coming here just because i feel that some members/moderators don't post enough. As much as sometimes i feel that is the case.

I love the board. My interest in Elvis has never been stronger. I would sooner visit a quiet friendly forum that one full of insults and fans who think that they know everything.

Personally, this is the first place I come to everyday. Maybe it's just a bit too friendly, thus the discussions don't get heated, like it or not, that's what creates more responses. I also think perhaps taking a break makes sense Brad. While I think it's great that moderators start threads, it should be up to all us forum members to interact more if possible.

posted quite often the last couple of days in one of the above mentioned because friends called me over for help against some R E A L luncatics. hadn't posted there a lot for quite some time.

i can only say: what i DO highly appreciate here is not only posting in the 'friendliest' forum around, but a 'lunatic free zone'.

actually i do contribute more or less (more more (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) ) regularely pics to the gallery and always try to find some not around everywhere (a number of them not even in the TCB (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) ), that kinda action however remains mainly unnoticed (except to HDM, jordan and chris whom i continue to bother with that stuff). e.g. i cannot imagine that in the court there could happen what happened a couple of weeks in that other forum, that a number of us in a joint venture literally went on 'passive strike' because the misbehaving of these lunatics remained unpunished by the admins.

so we stopped uploading pics, stopped to contribute reports, stopped to share links like the scans etc. actively. we still post, but we don't share any longer.

i told everybody: if you want the stuff, register in the court or the pelvis, no more available over there.

wonder how long it will take them to clean up the mess. at least at present i am not inclined to terminate my temporary strike, might result in a permanent one (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) .

On any site , I find the activity comes and goes, as do people. Depending on their interests or what's going on in their own busy lives.
In the beginning I used to wonder about that, but it seems to occur on every site I've visited.
I can only speak for myself.....but, it's much nicer to visit someplace that doesn't turn into namecalling ,seeing how much "we know " to put Elvis or anyone down ,etc. than any others.
It is IMO, just as much "our job" to start a topic/conversation as it is anyone elses.

Hey Brad! I know exactly where you are coming from buddy. I have went through the membership list a couple of weeks ago, if that long, and there was close to 900 members on here and in total only about 177 had ever made a post. I am beginning to think like Joe has stated, perhaps it's too friendly on here, or maybe to strict? There's a few old members who don't come here anymore. One in particular is a very good friend of mine and when he dropped out of sight seemed like no one cared. That actually blew my mind because he did alot of work in the dvd section. There's been many times to where I would go a few weeks and never post on here at all, simply because I was sick of it. I think some people take these forums way to serious. I think we were all fans of Elvis long before there ever was a "TKC" or a "FECC". I have spent hundreds of hours on each and have made so many friends it's almost not comprehensible. Maybe there's too many chiefs and not enough indians? I for one will be the first to admit I am quite intimadated by all the authority and refuse to post about certain subjects on here in fear of being taken the wrong way. I don't know Brad, perhaps this is the beginning of the end.

These Elvis forums is the only way. Why drop out because it's too friendly?
I have made a lot of friends on these forums.
Not everyone is interested in the same Elvis topic.
Some like the 50's
Some like the 60's
Some like the 70's.
Of course you get a few that knows it all.
I have always said I don't know everything about Elvis history.

Matt, did you ask your good friend why they stopped posting here, It would be interesting to find out. As for "the beginning of the end" comment, sorry but I think that's a silly thing to say. This forum is friendly and above all respectful, that's why more people are joining here and leaving the other forums. Just my opinion.

Frank, when I say friendly, what I mean by that is, it seems like everyone is bent on keeping it a friendly forum, which by all means is a good thing. But when people start thriving on it being the "friendliest" forum then of course there is going to be limitations on what members can talk about. There's consequences to be paid when everyone tries to keep it "friendly" on here. I know, I for one would love to have a thread started in the trade section naming and shaming fans who rip other fans off because there are some on this very forum right now who do just that. But I know those kind of threads aren't liked by some on here so we can't inform others who these bad apples are. That's just one example of the limitations of being the "friendliest" forum. I know I sound like a smart ass saying this stuff but that's just the way I view things

I myself, like that Moderators are present here and the BS is left on other sites to happen.
If some want to fight and call others names; there's been some "other sites" named that seem to encourage that. I'd encourage anyone that likes that kind of thing to go to one of them.
