As it is so excellent - and booming in my earholes from my i-pod this second ( and i can't be arsed to find the old thread ) i am playing Steppin' out of line. Is that one cool song or what ?? Why wasn't it released as a single ?? undecided.gif

You know when I wrote it, I didn't know Elvis would sing it. I would have pushed for it to be released as a single, however the Colonel had his mind on some other tunes - found him a bit intimidating

Right now I'm listening to a home made CDR with originals or inspirations like Three corn patches - Just a little bit - If you don't come back as recorded in 1973 by T-Bone Walker>>> very similar to the Elvis' versions.
As you know Elvis recorded songs which he likes very much and perhaps he had an album in his collection with T Bone Walker records.

I'm going to cheat a little bit as I rarely listen to Elvis when I'm on my laptop... I prefer listening to EP through proper speakers, which my laptop doesn't have. I very often listen to something, though... I just open another window with Youtube on the background and put on different songs from different artist... right now, been listening to a couple of songs from Melody Gardot... a bit "different" artist compared to todays 'popstars' (as she has real talent)... her voice is hauntingly beautiful.

Posted by: JohanD Jan 31 2010, 09:02 AM

Her voice is indeed good Jouni, different, that's the right word you used mate!! thumbup.gif

At the moment i'm playing the "Sunset 6363"FTD...the fantastic 1972/1975 sessions album.

This what ive been doin myself since Jan 8 remastering and transfered my whole Elvis Lp collection, so far i have all of the 50s and just finsh the 60s lps and now i am in the 70s.

the Harum scarum LP copy i have is an mono version and i am trying to find a good stereo vinyl lp, i have it on FTd, butlike you said the sound vinyl is much better imo.....

This cd played an hour ago...
at the time of release it was a big suprise Elvis even knew Beethovens "Moonlight Sonate",yet not only he knew it, but improvised a classy version on the piano of it!!
Elvis certainly knew his masters!!
A side of Elvis far too much unknown.

It got me in the mood to play Beethoven (again), at the moment it's the breathtaking "Sonata Pathétique", my favorite LvB composition..
It can me move me to tears.

Altough i'm an ardent Mozart adept, the maestro Beethoven is second in the lead.

Enjoy this piece of great music, known by our Elvis!!

Hi
i am having a lazzzzzy day today and going to sit down to 6 films as bellow, my Dad gave me this box set for Christmas i have seen them all 100s times before but i thought it would be nice to see them all again.

'Love Me Tender'
'The Flaming Star'
'Wild in the Country'
'Clambake'
'Frankie and Johnny'
'Kid Galahad'

Six classic movies starring the King of Rock 'n' Roll. In 'Love Me Tender' (1956), Elvis Presley makes his acting debut starring as a young Texan farmer who, upon hearing of his older brother's (Richard Egan) death in the Civil War, marries his sweetheart (Debra Paget). When the older brother returns from the war alive and well, a bitter feud between the siblings begins. In 'The Flaming Star' (1960), Presley stars as the son of a white rancher (John McIntire) and a Kiowa Indian (Dolores del Rio), who finds himself caught between the settlers and the Kiowas when his mother's people go on the warpath. Attempting to act as peacemaker, he only becomes embroiled in the violence. In 'Wild in the Country' (1961), country delinquent Glenn Tyler (Presley) is paroled into his uncle's care on the condition that he pays weekly visits to widowed psychiatrist Irene Sperry (Hope Lange). She discovers that Glenn is a talented writer, and encourages him to attend college. Meanwhile, Glenn is simultaneously dating the pushy Noreen (Tuesday Weld) and the more reserved Betty Lee Parsons (Millie Perkins). In 'Clambake' (1967), Scott Heywood (Presley), an heir to millions, switches places with a ski instructor to learn about everyday life. He must now compete with a wealthy playboy (Bill Bixby) to attract a beautiful co-ed (Shelley Fabares). In 'Frankie and Johnny' (1966), Frankie (Donna Douglas) is a riverboat entertainer who despairs of her gambling singing partner Johnny (Presley), but is too in love with him to end their partnership. Songs include 'Shout It Out' and 'Beginner's Luck'. In 'Kid Galahad' (1962), Walter Gulick (Presley) is a garage mechanic who is inadvertently drawn into the world of professional boxing. He has to free himself from the clutches of a gambler (Gig Young) who is attempting to manipulate him. Songs include 'I Got Lucky', 'Love is For Lovers', and 'King of the Whole Wide World'. Also features an early appearance by Charles Bronson.

Going OFF-TOPIC --> Don't have that album, but a couple of months back I bought the "Twin Peaks" DVD Gold Box and watched the whole series through... absolutely fantastic stuff! Filled with fascinating characters, each more unique than the other... none more so than the main one, Special Agent Dale Cooper. He's simply brilliant in all his 'strangeness'. Also the final episode is probably one of the greatest things ever caught on film. Shows like this one are very few and far between... if you haven't seen it, check it out.
...It's not for everyone, though...

PS. Sherilyn Fenn... wow.

Oh yeah Jouni!! thumbup.gif
The serie is a real cultclassic!!
When it first aired i was hooked, very much!!

When they first came out on dvd i just HAD to have them, to relive it all again, and once again i was hooked!!
Now at the moment i'm enjoying it all over again.. and guess what?
Once again i'm hooked!!

The charachters, thev stories, it's all in detail, so weird, but in a logical way.
One of the true highloghts in tv history making!!

Have you ever seen the "Fire walk with me "movie?
It tells the storie before the murder... again,it's a great addition to the collection.

My favorite personage?
Untill this day.. nothing was more scarier and more haunting then Killer Bob.
Altough he had a very small part, he's the coolest thing around!!

Cool to bump into someone else who also appreciates the greatness of the "Twin Peaks" series! ..... Haven't seen the "Fire Walk With Me" flick yet, but been planning on buying it for a few weeks now... just checked discshop.fi and they have it for so cheap that I think I have to order it now. biggrin.gif ... And you're right about Bob... definitely a scary one... the scene where he comes over the couch is one that has gotten very stuck in my head... you remember the part I mean?

Lynch and the crew also had a great eye for female beauty... Sherilyn Fenn from my previous post is a prime example... simply breathtaking.

The scene you describe is my favorite piece in the whole series!!
Nothing can beats that!
This is the one, right?

And i have to agree with you, Sherilyn Fenn is a real class-act.. cool in every way.
Altough i find that Sheryl Lee, is the most haunting beauty.. even to this day, there is something in that smile..
Every charachter is so well casted, it's spooky.
But nothing beats Killer Bob.. the ultimate spooky one...
And go for the movie Jouni, it's part of the series, it's essential stuff for those who loved it!!

And now back on gopic... Played EP's "Reconsider baby". winking0001.gif

Yes, that's the scene, Johan! Scary stuff, especially in it's original context.
Also agreed on Sheryl Lee... there's indeed something hauting in her...

And back on topic too -->
Been listening to Amy Winhouse's "Back To Black" album lately... great stuff! Wish her (possible) upcoming album will be just as good.

I've been listening to early live shows and interviews, just love Elvis from Oct. 16th 1954 (Hayride), it's just pure, real Elvis.
