Butterfly
The song is written by Anthony September aka Bernie Lowe & Kal Mann (copyright 15-02-57). On the backside of the demo you’ll find Too much (both versions sung by Marie Martell) According to the Ottawa Citizen News Paper from 3 april 1957 the song was performed the previous day (2 april 1957) in Toronto. The song was recorded in 1957 by Andy Williams (Cadence 1308). colonel snow

A time to love a time to cry (addition to a previous post)
The tune is based on the song Petite fleur (written in 1959 by Sidney Bechet); the song with new lyrics by Giant-Baum-Kaye was selected for the movie Frankie and Johnny. The demo version was rejected. Recorded around july 1965 or earlier that year by Marilyn Maye (RCA 47-8661). colonel snow

Letter 17 january 1956 – with demo acetates
For the second RCA session in january 1956 it was suggested to record these songs: Lookout mountain Already mentioned on the forum: Recorded on 13 november 1955 by Chuck Miller (Mercury 70767). Another version was recorded on 11 january 1956 by Otto Bash (RCA 20-6426). colonel snow

Update to a previous post:
For the second RCA session in january 1956 it was suggested to record these songs: Pins and needles in my heart (Floyd Jenkins – ASCAP) The original version was recorded on 5 may 1942 by Bob Atcher & Bonnie Blue Eyes (Okeh 6669). Other versions: - 14 march 1944 by Cindy Walker (Decca 6103). - 2 august 1945 by Roy Acuff & his Smoky Mountain Boys (Columbia 36856). * * mentioned in the letter as “standard”. colonel snow

Let me be worthy
The song is written by Lois Rosenquist Irwin. The songwriter recorded a version in 1954 (White Church 5200). According to an unconfirmed story the song was offered to Elvis for recording in the 60’s. The song is recorded in march 1956 by The Speer Family (RCA 20-6468 / 47-6468). Around 1963 released on an album. There’s a clip on Youtube. colonel snow

The song is written by Don Robertson-Hal Blair for the movie Take me to the fair aka It happened at the world’s fair. The song was rejected in the pre-selection. An acetate with this song from It happened at the world's fair was sold during an auction by EPE in 1999 (nr B 116) From the catalogue: B116: Four "It Happened At The World's Fair" acetates contain "Broken Heart For Sale," "Remind Me Of You," "Take Me To The Fair," "The Bright New World Of Tomorrow," "Beyond The Bend," "I'm Falling In Love Tonight," "A World Of Our Own," "Cotton Candy Land," etc. colonel snow

Tape boxes with demo versions as recorded by Glen Campbell
tape box # 23 – Signs of the Zodiac The song was written by Buddy Kaye & Ben Weisman for the movie The trouble with girls. The track was not included on CD Glen Campbell sings for the king. According to the book "Elvis - Frame by frame" written by Bill Bram (page 239) the lyrics for the movie version are changed by the wife of sreenplaywriter Arnold Peyser. The original version has more verses. Also a lot of lines were changed. It's unknown at the moment if the longer version was recorded by Elvis in an earlier take. tape box # 24 – Chautauqua The song was written by Buddy Kaye & Ben Weisman for the movie The trouble with girls. The track was not included on CD Glen Campbell sings for the king; the song was not recorded by Elvis. tape box # 25 – Carnival time The song was written by Sid Wayne & Ben Weisman for the movie Roustabout. The track was not included on CD Glen Campbell sings for the king. Another demo version of the song written by the same songwrting-team was recorded by P J Proby. This version was recorded by Elvis. I don’t know the version by Glen Campbell is an alternate version. In the competition to get as much as possible songs into a movie songwriters offer the same songtitle (with different lyrics) performed by another singer for recording by Elvis. tape box # 26 – How can you loose what you never had / Clambake Both songs were written by Sid Wayne & Ben Weisman for the movie Clambake. Both tracks were included on CD Glen Campbell sings for the king. tape box # 26 – Let us pray The song was written by Sid Wayne & Ben Weisman for the movie Change of habit. The (Hawaii or Hawaiian) beach boy
The song was written by Fuller-Weisman-Wise; when the title from the movie changed from The beach boy (script 17 october 1960) into Blue Hawaii (final script 23 february 1961) the song was rejected in the pre-selection. colonel snow

This a working title for the movie Girls girls girls. On 5 march 1962 announced as the new movie. There are various songs with this title registered at ASCAP and BMI but none from the well-known songwriting teams. I don’t have information about demo versions. Sometimes the song Jambalaya (well known country song) is mentioned too as a working title. I doubt this information is right. colonel snow

Western Union (Tepper-Bennett) for the movie Girls girls girls; replaced by Return to sender in the movie and finally recorded in the studio (27 May 1963).

Live a little love a little
According to Kevan Budd there exists a demo version with “Live a little love a little” written by Tepper-Bennett. Another version was written by Giant-Baum-Kaye (see scan). I don’t have more information. The background music for the movie was written by Billy Strange. colonel snow

A few tape boxes are not marked / no information known. Originally 55 demo acetates were send in between march – august 1966 for the movie Easy come easy go.
