I completely agree Chris !
Forget those re-releases as of late, try to hunt an original of this box down ... it'll be worth it !!! -------------------- "How do I get placed in situations like this? Ah hell, I guess it's all part of showbusiness "~ Elvis in his limo on his way to perform in Omaha, NE on June 19th 1977

a nice compilation to be recommended; however 20-08-73 M is not a soundboard recording but an audience recording in excellent sound.
with this sound it's a great pleasure to listen to an audience recording; colonel snow -------------------- |

This show (and most of the January / February '74 season) were recorded by RCA with 2 stereo microphones in the showroom plugged into the soundboard. They could be called professional recorded audience recordings. Indeed, wish all shows had this sound, this ambience -------------------- "How do I get placed in situations like this? I was fortunate enough to get these sets in a trade for some rare vinyl. Never regretted it. Awesome Cd sets in which BMG could only learn things from. Live In Las Vegas was a start, but the material was never as rare as what these releases contain. Great stuff !!

here we find on CD 4 the tracks Little darlin' and Unchained melody in the original version; new backing vocals were added to Little darlin' in june 1977 / new backing vocals and instruments were added in may/june 1977 before the final release.

Listened to the Aug 20th 1973 show today and as stated the sound is excellent,it is nice to hear clear vocals and band while still having the ambience of the audience, not what you find on most soundboards we hear today.
Listen to the audience reaction as the 2001 theme starts, you can feel the electricity and excitement in the air.Shame the show is not as good as the sound,Elvis is in autopilot and most of the songs are rushed through.Bob Hope is at this show and Elvis dedicates How Great Thou Art to him. |
