Hi, I am just getting into LP's recently and am going to get the complete collection of UK LP's from Elvis' lifetime (and important ones after his death) but cant seem to get a site that lists ALL (including Camden & International albums) and was wondering if anyone had one they could post please??
Also, I would like some info about the following please: When was the first Orange centre release?? When was the first Light Blue centre saying ELVIS across is release?? When was the first 'Tan' label release?? Other than the singles released when he died (all the number ones) what other singles were released with covers?? Which releases came with the red 'plain' sleeves (the ones that said RCA in a bubble that usually came with the black singles)?? Which releases came with the Green & White RCA sleeves?? Which releases came with the blue sleeves with orange curl round it?? Thank you, Ben. -------------------- |

the Camden & International label released a lot of compilation albums in the 80's with all kind of tracks from 50's '- 60's - 70's.
On the other hand some regular Lp's were released as double LP or a Double LP like 40 Greatest hits (on Arcade too) was divided in two single LP's as 20 Greatest hits vol. 1 & 2; You'll never walk alone + Elvis sings hits from movies vol.1 = Elvis Presley Collection vol. 1 Separate ways + C'mon everybody = Elvis Presley Collection vol.2 Flaming star + Let's be friends = Elvis Presley Collection vol 3. Double dynamite became Double dynamite vol. 1 & 2 then US Male / Easy come easy go (and perhaps I forgot some) were in electronicalle reprocessed stereo Mahalo became The King. Sorry to say but I was not a fan of UK releases. The best sounding Lp's were the US pressings and without doubt as nr 1 the japanese LP's. It's easy to declare: the US pressings came from the first generation copy of the master tape; for outside the US a copy was made from the first generation tape (in fact 2nd). I don't know if there in the lead-out groove marks printed like A3 / B 2 etc besides the matrix number for the UK LP's. Pressing records happens through a mould and after pressing several thousands of Lp's the mould lost quality. The first mould got A 1 then the next A 2 - A-3 B 2 means the second mould (2) from the second master (B). When you collect LP's you can transfer these to CDR; nowadays with some programs you can clean the LP and you can errase scratches/surface noise etc; to keep the original mix don't use equilizers. the old Lp's are two track or three track stereo with the backing vocals in one (right) channel. With the CD's the backing vocals are mixed behind Elvis. I don't have knowledge about when or whatever the reason is to switch to another colour on the label. when you look to the site of Keith Flynn and here in the LP section you'll see an explanation about matrixnumbers; I don't know if the UK has different matrixnumbers. colonel snow -------------------- |

Record Collector buyers guide should give you most of the information that you need Ben. I don't have one to hand, as i am at work. But can have a closer look later tonight if you don't have a copy (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/undecided.gif)

Bruce Springsteen He was as big as the whole country itself, as big as the whole dream. He just embodied the essence of it and he was in mortal combat with the thing. Nothing will ever take the place of that guy. |
