Is there any proof of Elvis on the Roy Orbison show in the 50's?
Is the show available on DVD?
No one has showed any photo of them together in the 50's.

Frank,

I've checked on the Internet Movie Database site, and "The Roy Orbison Show" was a 1 season only (1964) show that was produced for the U.K. I've never seen or heard tell of a weekly or semi-regular Orbison show here in the States, and know that there would have been no opportunity for Elvis to have appeared on the '64 U.K. show.

I don't believe I've ever seen a picture of Elvis & Orbison together, be it 50's, 60's or 70's......Would be interested in seeing some, if any exist.

Roy Orbison had a local TV show in Odessa, Texas and Elvis is rumoured to have appeared on it sometime in 1955. No film or photos from the show are known to exist and it will be interesting to see if Ernst turns anything up for his Sun project. Over the years various rumours have been doing the rounds as to the existence of this show, but so far no one has ever turned up any concrete proof. Audio recordings from some of the other Orbison shows (without Elvis, obviously) were released on a Rollercoaster CD here in the UK a few years ago.

Roy Orbison did a local TV show in Odessa on 31-05-55 where Elvis and Johnny Cash appeared as a guest; in old magazines there were pictures shown but I remember that Roy Orbison did not wear heavy thick spectacles and black hair.
both were Sun artists at this time too.

as far as I know no audio/movie is known excists.

Roy was on tour with the Beatles in the 60's.
Elvis was busy filming.
This topic has come up onother forums and nobody can prove anything with a photo or show poster from 1955.
Is there any Roy Orbison fans who can prove this about Elvis on the Roy Orbison Show?
I have tried searching the Internet but no luck with old news of this.
I don't recall when Roy started wearing glasses but I think he started wearing them in the early 60's and it became his trademark.

according to the book "Did Elvis sing in your home town?" by Lee Cotton (released by High Sierra books , Sacramento, Ca in 1995) the date is 14 october 1955;
the tour stopped for shows in Odessa where Roy Orbison, Johhny Cash and Elvis appeared on the local KOSA- TV to promote the evening entertainment .
there were no adds in the paper "Odessa American" but there is a tour list in the Billboard magazine from 8 october 1955.

the earlier mentioned 31-05-55 date seems to be wrong.

As you said Frank...it has been talked on other forums and nothing has come up to prove it one way or the other.

Well Kev, I put that up there with those who claim to have seen the poolside interview with Elvis filmed for the CBS Special.

I saw the show in Memphis, the year Graceland opened. Danny Mayo was nice enough to show it to me and Janelle McComb in a hotel room as we took a break during the rain. Janelle then showed a VHS she received with outtakes from This is Elvis. Danny was going on tour with Elvis' car and more interested in 6 photo books I had just published and T-Shirt transfers than talking about the films, but did tell us he was talking with Graceland. We remained friends until his death. In 1978, I received a letter confirming the ownership of the "Pied Piper Film", but I did not have the resources to pursue it. Vic Colonna was not that interested at the time, not did he offer help in this matter, he was the only person I told.

Interesting Bruce. So many rumours about that footage. Would be something to see should it surface (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/undecided.gif)

Thanks Bruce and WELCOME TO TKC!! Hope you'll post about your experiences often!

I was reading the back and forth about this on another forum...would be something if it was made available for all to see. Maybe one day - hopefully in my lifetime - we will be able to see and hear all the stuff that has been stashed away for years. There has to be some rare gems carefully packed away from private sources to the attic at Graceland!
We can always hope!!

I was watching some old newscast and shows from Aug 16 - 17, 1977 and they interview Roy Orbinson and he said he and Elvis had been close friends and the last time he saw Elvis before he passed away was in Dec of 1976 and they talked for awhile.
