Not sure yet, Chris, but probably not. I saw Mag's post in a related thread and she confirmed that there's really nothing new here, no new remastering or anything, and I already have the discs in the set individually, so might skip this one altogether.

Would really like to see Sony give Elvis' original release catalog the same care and treatment Capitol has given to the Beatles'. All of Elvis' original LP's, remastered, in mini LP sleeves, with some great liner notes. There could be a few posthumous releases given the same treatment, like "The Lost Album" for example! I will get it...but not in a short time..maybe in a month or two...
Too much "real new" coming out now...

But in the end,i will get it,just love those mini sleeves things...
Here it's for sale at a rather cheap price too...25€..that makes 3,5€/cd...not a bad price for such things.

I agree Brad..to a certain extent at least. As a collector of CDs as well as his music, that can be the sole reason to buy it..even when we already have the material. I don't have any plans to add it yet...but as Shaun said..the sad thing is that i can see myself buying it at some point in the future. Sony know this....and by the looks of it,..so do the bootleggers these days. Its pretty much all material we have had before...but Elvis fans ( for the most part at least ) keep buying it.... Had a good look at a box today. The Cardboard sleeves do look very nice. I decided to purchase one...it was £18 which i thought for the price it wasn't bad at all. I do like those repro sleeves....guess i am a sucker (IMG:style_emoticons/default/whistling.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/LSHIC.gif) But i have to admit..i like it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/undecided.gif)

ummm Chris........I think something went terribly amiss. I believe the dealeo that I was proposing was that someone else would by the collection and then give it to me for free and then I would provide a review?? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/whistling.gif)

okay....I've been good.......but seems one day at the office, and I've slipped right off into the ditch.......

might interest an Elvis virgin collector???

just exactly what is an Elvis virgin collector?

- is that someone who collects virgins for Elvis - cause we know he did prefer those for serious relationships (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

and if this is correct - you 'old' guys...know these aren't the best thing out there...

........that just begs for a big long explanation as to what criteria has been considered, sample size, methods of testing and basis for this conclusion.....

if you collect virgin's for Elvis - is it an official position? do you need credentials? do you get a badge with a TCB lightening bolt through it?

how do you train for this job? how do you spot them?

why would one of these Elvis virgin collector people be interested in the box set collection ?

- does this collection contain secret devices to help them track virgins better?

- do studies show that virgins are attracted to Elvis' original albums more so that his other more recent releases?

I could go on - as I've lots more questions.......but will cease for now

sincerely,

Curious in Kansas

I would pick one up if I saw it at a good price "in the flesh". But that's fairly unlikely, since there are no decent CD shops around any more where I live. I make almost all of my purchases online these days and whenever I have the money to spend there are other items to take priority.

this 7 CD set is for rent at our local library now for around € 9; I don't need this set because I have the original LP - LP transfer to CDR - CD and some tracks on several compilations.
