With the year quickly coming to a close, I thought I'd ask what your favorite 2008 FTD CD release was. There's still one release on the horizon before we say goodbye to 2008, the Deluxe Edition of "Elvis In Person", which will surely be near the top of my list of favorites. To pick THE favorite for me is pretty easy this year......."Elvis Sings Memphis, Tennessee", FTD's revision of the classic "The Lost Album/For The Asking" CD. I was quite surprised when I first heard that FTD was going to release it, as it was something I truly never thought the FTD lable would tackle. The songs never sounded better, and the artwork, simple as it may be, fits the material perfectly! I'd put this CD alongside "Elvis Is Back" as my all-time favorite FTD release. I wrote an in-depth review of the CD which can be found here http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/index.php?showtopic=12831. I can't recommend the CD more highly.
FTD has been more than generous in their releases this year, eight, not including the forthcoming "In Person"! I think it goes with out saying that we have it better than fans of other artists, thanks to the time and talents of the folks at the FTD Label.

I went for Elvis Sings Memphis Tennessee. Excellent song selections and excellent musicians & backing, plus a quite attractive cd package (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/thumbup.gif)
Although it was hard for me not to choose "America".....hard to beat those hot band intros (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) -------------------- "I'm gonna leave your head like the shape of a stamp" |

Bruce Springsteen He was as big as the whole country itself, as big as the whole dream. He just embodied the essence of it and he was in mortal combat with the thing. Nothing will ever take the place of that guy. |

But i must afmitt,i have a soft spot for the"America"show, since it's the only total 100% new collection of tracks, what means that every song is not heard before in any form from this date... -------------------- |

Couldn't decide between Love Letters, TTWII and Elvis Country...so went for Love letters. Simply because there were alternate takes on that release that i don't recall hearing before.... (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/notworthy.gif)

Trully hard this year, I've loved every one of them and to have the Nashville trilogy complete in one year has been fantastic. I have a soft spot for all of them, including Memphis and America. In the end I just had to vote for the one that's always been my favourite album period, TTWII. Voting on nostalgia because the quality has been so good it's been hard to distinguish on those grounds alone.

Tough choice. Went with Memphis, Tennessee, because it's an album that wasn't, but should have been. What a refreshing change it would have been between soundtracks. Besides I really enjoy the songs. They're mostly lightweight, but fun. I
never tire of listening to them. -------------------- Founder/President of the EPE Doesn't Own the Footage of "Elvis On Tour" Society.
