This show was released before on lp/cd, many years ago, but it was very incomplete.
The cdr version was complete, and now this label comes up with an early generation tape of that complete version.
It's slightly better then what we had before, but not up to Straight arrow standards.

It was a hard time for Elvis, his health was not at his best, but he still delivers some good versions, altough this show is not the most exiting ever.
I thank the label for producing very regular cd's like this, to give the fan a complete overview at the man's career, with ups and downs.

The booklet has some nice pics and is well put together, the cover however is not the best... there are better pics available.
For collectors.

JohanD, you're too kind (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon_wink.gif) . I for myself can't find anything good on this release, except the fact that it is just a piece of the complete puzzle.

Maybe i'm too kind Joern, i still try to find "sparkles" in every performance or release... and even if there are "few" to be found, they are still there..
The first part of the show is pretty decent i think...

But he main thing about this release is-as you put so wisely-to complete the puzzle in the fandom.

I was there and could give some details to show if you like. But for now, the show wasn't all that bad (of course being at a concert does influence ones objectivity). By 1977, whatever Elvis did in concert seemed to be OK with the fans. I will admit it did not have the level of excitement and energy as when I saw Elvis in 71, 73, 74, or even 76. But the show was still "good." We all really loved My Way (which seemed to be a spontaneous choice) and Polk Salad Annie was well received. During some of the moves Elvis was doing on "Polk" he seemed to be struggling, even in pain. At least that is what I observed from the where I was sitting. Even despite a slight "glitch" in Little Sister, it still sounded really good. Elvis' comments before he left were a bit strange. At that point I was not really up-to-date on the book which was coming out. Things weren't reported like they are today. His comment about being "in good health" was strange, at least for me, but we all just cheered wildly since we were all believing Elvis. I hope I have a chance to hear this cd some day.
Thanks again Johan. You do a wonderful job!!!

Thanks for your witness account Jim!!

I read word for word of it carefully with great respect!!
Fantastic mate, really, it's thing like this that makes us so lucky, to be in touch with people who saw the man and tell their honnest opinion about it, the songs, the side-happenings, the event!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/notworthy.gif)

This concert was released previously on LP/CD Philadelphia '77; on these releases it was incomplete.

O sole mio/It's now or never - Little sister - Teddy bear / Don't be cruel - And I love you so - Polk salad Annie are missing on the LP/CD Philadelphia '77.
