When browsing my cd collection today I stumbled into this 5 cd set from 1987. Does anyone have more information about it ? How do I know if this is the 1987 UK edition or the German 1990 edition and how rare is this set nowadays.
As you can see from the pictures the set has seen better days (all discs are in good state though), but that's how I bought it a couple of years ago: HPIM0418.JPG ( 644.62K ) Number of downloads: 4 HPIM0419.JPG ( 635.13K ) Number of downloads: 4 HPIM0420.JPG ( 925.46K ) Number of downloads: 4 -------------------- "How do I get placed in situations like this? Indeed it is no longer on the site of Keith Flynn. In both sections (UK vinyl and mainstream releases) is no longer there. I'm 100 % sure it was in the first edition of the discography. For some reason Keith Flynn has updated his discography and errased a few releases.
Perhaps on www.elvisoncd.com you'll find what you're looking for. As far as I know it is no extremely rare. It is for the die-hard fan who wants everything. colonel snow -------------------- |

Hi Stefan,
nice Readers Digest CD Box Set. Do you have also the 84 page Booklet insert? What picture is on the back of your Booklet? Is it in English or German? As you can read on ElvisOnCD ALL CDs were Made in UK. This Set incl some nice MONO Master Versions, some alternate Take versions + Electronic Reprocessed Versions. It is COMPLETE different to the USA 4 CD Box version! -------------------- The Lady Loves Me And Of Course She Knows It Yet!

Is there any way to see if its the UK or German edition besides the booklet ? And is there somewhere a site or something where I read more about those mono/alternate/reprocessed versions, as ElvisOnCD site doesn't give that information. -------------------- "How do I get placed in situations like this? Hi Stefan,
I must check my RD CD Box Set Versions. Can't remember exactly. I've got the Track Informations re: this RD Box from the Great BOOK ELVIS ON CD Vol.2 from Peter Baumann. This Book is essential for all Elvis CD collectors. It lists most of the Rare Track informations like Electronic Stereo, MONO,and Stere and Remixed Versions on var. CD releases. For Example Anything Thats Part Of You is the alt. Take 2. ! I Gotta Know and Little Sister, Lonely Man, are the MONO Masters. Such an easy Question is an alt. Take. Big Boss Man, What'd I say, VIVA LAS VEGAS are the MONO Masters. Love me Tender and Got a lot o'livin to do, Santa bring my Baby back to me are Electronic Stereo Versions Promised Land must be the THIS IS ELVIS Version if I am not mistaken. -------------------- The Lady Loves Me And Of Course She Knows It Yet!

Thanks Colonel, Yes its the Harmony Overdub THIS IS ELVIS Version of Promised Land. Its time for FTD to release it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool2.gif) I wasn't very pleased when FTD released 'Hits Of The 70's', but this 5cd box could be intersting being released by FTD though. Still prefer classic albums from when Elvis was alive and the live stuff first though ! @Henk: Thanks for another piece of info ! -------------------- "How do I get placed in situations like this? The tracks were licensed to Readers Digest; another LP with movie tracks titled Elvis in Hollywood was licensed to Everest records. Through the years a lot was licensed to other companies like K-tel / Time-Life / Franklin Mint etc.
I don't think ever a FTD will be released based on that kind of LP's. colonel snow By the way nice to see you came back here with some interesting topics. -------------------- |

And thanks again for that information Henk ! Does licensed mean the company (in this case Reader'ss Digest) actually had to pay for those recordings in order to release them ? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It's nice to be back. There were reasons for me 'disapearing' (personal ones), but it seems I have overcome those ! -------------------- "How do I get placed in situations like this?
