Right now enjoying a very underrated album, "Mahalo From Elvis." When it was released originally it was the first time we had the post Aloha recordings on disk. I've always enjoyed this album over the years and it has found a place among my favorite non-concert releases.

We're in the midst of a major snow storm today, so my day will consist of: drinking lots of hot coffee while listening to the FTD releases: From Elvis in Memphis; Back in Memphis; and From Elvis at American Sound Studio. Doesn't get any better than this.

Just completed the 2-CD Good Times" from FTD. A really good listen. Elvis really seems to be in a good mood and is playful on many of the takes. His voice really sounds good. You can here his frustration on several takes as he really seems to be putting forth a good effort and be professional. Thanks to FTD for the behind-the-scene look at Elvis at this time in his career.

In my opinion LP/CD/FTD Good times is one of last good releases. Releases after 1974 are not the best.

To be sure. IMHO, it is light years better than "Raised on Rock/For Ol Times Sake." While I do enjoy Promised Land and Today, Elvis just seems to be having fun on this album and it features a number of noteworthy performnces.

Currently listening to the FTD release, Raised on Rock/For Ol Times Sake. For me, Girl of Mine, Sweet Angeline and Three Corn Patches is the highlight. It is too bad Elvis didn't really work at It's Different Now. A song which really had potential for him. Another was Color My Rainbow, while we only have the instrumental and backing track I think in 1973 he would have delivered a song which would have been appreciated by many.

The CD release has stereo tracks but I prefer the mono versions.

Gonna revisit the FTD release of Promised Land. One of my favorite albums from the 70's. It is too bad that this didn't sell better. The material is solid and Elvis visits several genres of music. While the Today album was good, From Elvis Presley Boulevard was good, and Moody Blue was a mixture, the Promised Land album IMHO, is the last solid studio album while he was with us.
