This concert was available before on cd ("When the blue moon turns to gold again") in reasonable sound.
Recently a very good sounding new source turned up in the cdr circuit.
For this release they have used that new source.
It's indeed an amazingly good sounding recording for a tour show.
The old cd can be kept for collectors sake, but from now on i will be playing this one.
One of the very best audience tour-recordings around!!

The booklet is nice with cool pics from the show.
The label anounced their next release already (Duluth 77), if it comes from the cdr source again("The old magic still lingers on") we are in for a treat!!

In the meantime, this show from 1973 is not to be missed!!

I think I'll have to track this one down, I've found myself listening to more '73 concerts recently. I would have loved to see some company give us a soundboard from march/April or from Tahoe that year in the near future. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Anyways thanks for the info Johan.

My pleasure my friend!!

This show has an EXCEPTIONAL good sound, it's one of the best audience recordings ever and close to soundboard.
Above that, Elvis in is in great shape!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/notworthy.gif)

Elvis's tour shows from '73 are all great and much, much better than Vegas/Tahoe. My favorite is 'Born To Give Us Fever' (Uniondale, June 23rd 1973 AS).

The show is wrong dated as afternoon show while Elvis greets the audience with good evening (I don't think he is joking). I have the concert as evening show in my collection taken from a cassette recording from the 70's.

That's a very interesting observation Henk.
It could be true... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/undecided.gif)

But, there is no source anywhere that confirms your "as/es" switch..
Maybe your tape has been wrongly dated?
There are two sources that stated this is the as.
So both are wrong, the first one for years?

The evening show is on cdr by itself...what is that date then?

I believe he was actualy joking with his "good evening" remark...

It was not very uncommon for Elvis to greet his audience with 'good evening' while he in fact was playing an afternoon show.

@Johan, if the sound is indeed as good as you say I got to find this release (IMG:style_emoticons/default/undecided.gif)

It is confusing by greeting the audience in the afternoon show and in the evening show with "good evening". As I have the tape with the evening show (with When my blue moon turn to gold again - 1 line) since 1979 from a reliable source I keep this date as the right one. Through the years more concerts changed from dinner to midnight / afternoon to evening vice versa. This will be a problem now and then.

Please do Stefan, it's 50% better then we had before on cd, a real fantastic soundupgrade!!

_______________

I'm beginning to have doubts about the as/es... Elvis(as Henk told aready) does sound pretty serious with his "Good evening" statement.
Ofcourse we can't see his face or guessing he's being ironic, but there's room for doubt.
But it still leaves the other dated es question open...
Wich one is this then?

I am happy with this tour.......Elvis has lost IMHO all his 'Aloha stress'. :-)

Both tours in '73 are very good .. interesting setlists and an performer in great voice, unlike both Vegas engagements and/or Tahoe.

I think he sounded better in Tahoe '73 than in Vegas. (Ofcourse he was in much better "form" on the march tour.) But I seem to remember something about Elvis having some trouble with his troath that year in Vegas... But it's been a long time since i dvelved into Elvis beyond the music, so my memory could be wrong.

But the Vegas troath was a treath for all entertainers there, as there is no moisture in the air during day time. Sinatra once said that his voice would get a mind of it's own when because of the "Vegas Troath".
