Elvis-TheKingsCourt _ For LP Fans Only _ Question about "Perfect For Parties" ep.

Posted by: sheila Mar 19 2007, 08:09 PM

Does anyone know which is real...The black label or the white label.
I have the black one with rca logo at top and it says its not for sale in one line on the left side of the label. I also have the sleeve which is in excellent condition.
So, I found four different price listings. The old Osbourne price for it says $200.
then, the next one says $100.00. Then, I looked up on Goldmine price guide and it says $150. Which is it and how much does it worth??

according to the book "Jailhouse rock" by Lee Cotton is the version with the white label a counterfeit with a heavier cover and released in 1979.
to be recognized as "Record preview" copy while a promotional copy for the EP was never made.

the original has a thin cover and a black label with Nipper.

I have no idea about prices of the real one.
I think the counterfeit is worth about $ 20 till $ 50.- for a mint copy.
for me it is what people want to pay for it as it is for the hard-core collector who wants everything.

Sheila, as far as I know all "Perfect For Parties" with white labels are bootlegs. There are two black label variations of the original record. One that has "Not for sale" on one line and one that has those words on two lines. The bootlegs have thick US EP/LP like covers, while the cardboard is much thinner on the originals - almost like a single sleeve.

"Presleyana IV" values the record and cover at $120-150 in mint condition. However, I've seen near mint copies go for $40-50 on eBay. Like so many of those records that were considered very rare and hard to obtain it is now much easier to find than it was 5-10 years ago and that's reflected in the price. Although the white label 70's bootlegs shouldn't be as interesting to collectors, they were pressed in smaler numbers. Since they are now probably harder to find than the real thing they could well end up being more expensive.
