when this CD was released in 1993 the outtakes were brand new to collectors. in spite that the cassette source was not in the right speed the fans were glad with this new alternates

I had this CD in the past with a different cover. When I compare the two CD's with the same title on www.elvisoncd.com I notice that the wrong cover is used for this CD.

the information is right but the cover is wrong.
the CD Wings of an angel with this cover contains different tracks.

The prisoner's song aka Wings of angel

The original version was recorded on 13-08-24 by Vernon Dalhart. He recorded the songat least 18 times and they were released by several record companies on 53 record labels in the USA
It seems that the song is based on a old folk tune "Meet me tonight by the moonlight" with re-written lyrics.

Vernon Dalhart recorded the song on 16-10-24; besides the release on Edison Diamond disc 51459-R is was released on Edison cylinder BA 4954.
