Fantastic release indeed in fantastic sound! (am '77 fan (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/clap.gif) )
I wouldn't qualify the february 13th concert as "good", but rather as "decent". He seems to have some problems with his throat here and sounds a bit horse. Nevertheless he tries his best and one can only appriciate that. The Montgommery show is an above average performance with a great You Gave Me A Mountain (can't blame Elvis reaction to the applause: "Thank you for that mediocre applause ..."), a killer Polk Salad Annie, an extremely rare, but well sung, version of Where No One Stands Alone and a good Unchained Melody. -------------------- "How do I get placed in situations like this? Ah hell, I guess it's all part of showbusiness "~ Elvis in his limo on his way to perform in Omaha, NE on June 19th 1977

At Montgomery 16/02/1977 after Unchained melody tells Charlie Hodge to Elvis to sing Jailhouse rock ....but Elvis said NO WAY...take it home... and Can't help falling in love starts.....It's really amazing in my opinion.

The montegomery show is fantastic in my opinion. look at the set listm you cant go wrong here, the only minus is that it's incomplete. As you said allready Stefan, "Polk salad annie" is grate.. An i seldome say that about "Polk salad" not sung in 1970. But i dig this one very much .
Also "My way" is uttlery fantastic, i get chills when i listen to this song. And imo it was never sung better than in 1977 and this is maby the best version. "Where no one stands alone" is peraps te higlight for me, it is grate to hear it in this sound. Im really happy we got this release, the sound is better than we got on moody blue and other grate performances. "unchained melody" is a grate show stopper and i have yet to hear a poor version of this song, luckly i know i never will. Chills, chills chills!! When i get time i will write a rewiew for this CD. -------------------- The outer limit of your potential is determined solely by your own beliefs and your own confidence in what you think is possible |

There's also a funny dialogue after 'Hound dog' about some clothes Elvis gets from a fan.
It meant to be for Lisa...But Elvis wanted that Kathy put this clothes on...great hilarity, especially when the band plays a striptease tune :-) -------------------- "There's some girl over there who yelled through the whole song, so honey put some tape over your mouth" # Elvis after singing Blue Christmas (Huntsville ALA Sept. 6th 1976).

Both (incomplete) concerts were re-released on box-set The final curtain (Boxcar Enterprises) in 2011.
The complete audinece recording from 16-02-77 was released in 2010 on CD Never ending demand vol. 1 (Rainbow records RR 19770216-2). colonel snow -------------------- |
