Kurt Russell got the part just because he kicked Elvis as a kid in 1963.

I always liked this movie.....A job well done in its day. I think Russell got the job not because he kicked Elvis in In Happened At The Worlds Fair, but because he was and IS a good actor, and bore a slight resemblance to Elvis. The only thing I wish they'd change would be to dub Elvis' actual recordings in rather than using those by Roddy McDowell.

Anyway, I look forward to this being released on DVD.

In my opinion Kurt Russell is one of only two actors who got away with playing Elvis (Michael St. Gerard being the other one). Although there are several mistakes/twisted facts in this movie it's worth a watch. Since this was the first movie of its kind it's strange that it really hasn't been surpassed yet - on the contrary they have only gotten worse... I've seen this movie a looong time ago and this actually one of the first movies I've seen for Elvis that helped me get deeper into him...But that was years ago, I'd sure love to see it again and Kurt Russell is a great actor, I've loved him for years....and I think he's probably the best Elvis we will ever see....I can kinda tell that he "got" Elvis from the trailer...Need to this again....And yeah, I also wish that they'd use Elvis's real recordings, I remember seeing the "Tutti Frutti" number and I think the voice was way more heavier, Ronnie's voice doesn't fit.....

He plays Elvis pretty well...but the mistakes and overacting in the movements are a big let down for me.
Have it on tape somewhere, and i don't think the story is complete(far from) and Elvis' charachter comes out like an arrogant selfish person...

Not one for me.... (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/down.gif)

I think Kurt done a very good job playing Elvis and thats not an easy
thing to do.As we have found out from the other actors that have tried
to play him.And most of them have been terrible.

I know the story line is not always accurate. And it does make Elvis look
like an unhappy person.I would have liked them to show he had a sense
of humour.I can't really blame Kurt Russell for the script.I've always thought
he was a very good actor.

I heard he had to take ballet lessons to try and get the movements right.
Nobody can move like Elvis.I don't think we will see any actor do the perfect
job playing Elvis.Elvis was unique

Sorry, afraid i will stick to the real Elvis. Nothing against Kurt Russell. I like his movies. But not for me either i am afraid. (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/whistling.gif)

a great job by KURT RUSSELL , even though the storyline was week, he really nailed it down from what i've seen others do.
