good idea!

we used to have a 'famous dates in history'-thread in the german forum until it died for lack of contributions (the top posters were not always available).

another - more pleasant - anniversary was celebrated this week as well: the first heart transplant by dr. barnard 40 years ago on dec. 3rd, 67. saw an interesting report about it last weekend. amazing what we today regard as 'normal' and unspectacular.

IMHO, they might just as well simply left this stone at it's place and moved an even bigger rock right on top of it. this man had brought so much misery to so many people that he would have deserved it (apologies to conor, i know my attitude is anything but christian (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/blush.gif) ).

1972: Last Moon mission returns.
The last manned space mission to the Moon is on its way back to Earth, bringing to an end the US programme of lunar exploration.

I use to like watching the splash downs of the Apollo space ships on the late news on TV.
What use to be puzzling to me was when the space capsule splash landed in the sea there was no steam rising from the hot capsule.
