I recently read about in the book Down At The End Of Lonley Street at Heartbreak Hotel = The Death Of Elvis Presley.
I was reading about the incident that took place sometime in mid 1973 where Elvis and some young girl who was spending the evening with him spent the evening drinking some sort of cough syrup that had dilaudid in it or demoral one. And then it say's Elvis told the girl "Hunny that stuffs to strong" but he tried it with her. Apparently he fell asleep him and her did in the bedroom and Sonny West come in and told Elvis to wake up and he didn't even remember what happened. But the girl almost had died on them. And was rushed to the hospital. And incase something was to happen to the girl, like if she had died, they had all talked it over and planned that Charlie Hodge would have taken the blame and claimed her to have been his date that night. I was shocked when I read this story...so sad. |

Wow, I never heard of that story before, but I guess nobody knew all the endeavours that went on in Graceland, they did have some pretty wild nights, but goodness! If that girl was going to die that would be awful on all of them and especially on Charlie Hodge, he's the only mafia memeber that's half decent, he was a good guy and to think that that would've happened to him is awful! Thankfully nothing happened...But yeah, it is shocking....

That's what I thought was so terrible about the situation that they were all (including Elvis) going to let Charlie go down with it.
Show's you what kind of shape Elvis was in, in 1973. |

If this was so, would the girl this happened to not have tried to make her fortune out of "Her Story" by now? After all there should be hospital records if she almost died. And what a "story" to tell.
That sounds pretty serious. Just for the sake of Elvis... I'm calling B.S. on that one. (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/down.gif) -------------------- "The man who can sing when he hasn't got a thing is the King, of the whole wide world." |

Never heard of this story before. We know Elvis took prescription drugs but I think he misused them for kicks.
Some of these stories coming out now. Why didn't we read about it after the time of incident? Is this from story makers? -------------------- Frank

I was shocked when I read this story...so sad. Yes, this story has been around for years. I'm not sure how many of the books printed the story. Altho I have the books I haven't read them in years. If I remember correctly, Elvis paid the hospital/doctor bills and the girl didn't press any charges and I don't think that it happened at Graceland. I could be wrong about the details... Many of these stories could be true or partly true. The problem seems to arise because some of them tend to change over the years and who is telling them and how much they are being paid. Why didn't we read about it after the time of incident? Is this from story makers? It's like Lamar Fike said. Elvis just "F***** loved the drugs". Another thing, I know this is something that we don't want to think our hero was involved in but I don't think we should dismiss it just like that as being not true though. How are we to know it didn't happen. And why would Sonny West just make something up like that? I don't think so. |

How are we to know it didn't happen. And why would Sonny West just make something up like that? I don't think so. It's not that Elvis is a hero or I am in denial, but this is some serious accusations here. A girl almost dead from a drug overdose in cough medicine for the high of it all? That's like playing russian roulet, who gets that one bullet? And I don't care who you pay, someone is going to come up with proof eventually and expose it if it is truth. Charlie taking the blame? Of all those knuckleheads the most innocent takes the blame? Why not Sonny or Red? Or Lamar? too Chicken Sh*t? This girl would have written her own story about it by now, she would be on every talk show around. She wouldn't be letting all these other people make money off her horrible episode with Elvis. Not even Priscilla holds back from blacking his eye when it benefits her. Just doesn't all compute, too many holes in the story. And too many liars out for money in the MM. Sonny West is one of them. If Charlie had said it happened...then I might have believed it. Who really was there to know all the facts, "IF" it did...maybe the girl drank more than she was supposed to wanting to really get high. Maybe her body had a low tolerance to drugs....who knows. But the whole thing just doesn't add up for me. This girl would have said something by now instead of the MM get all the credit for "the big scandal" jmo. And not that Elvis was an angel...just that the money grubbers will say anything for the cash. -------------------- "The man who can sing when he hasn't got a thing is the King, of the whole wide world." |
