An interesting and worrying thread which i have been keeping an eye on Kev. I have yet to check my own collection. I burn my FTDs to the Mac and my Stereo as soon as i buy them...and very rarely ever get the actual discs out of the sleeves. I would be devastated if i found some of them unplayable after such a short period of time ( and only ever played once or twice). If this is the case with the majority of FTD releases...then i too would expect some sort of statement from FTD. I have moved this thread to the All Elvis section..i think that it needs to be read by any fans who have spent their money on FTDs..... -------------------- |

I don't know what you mean by fog on the surface of CD's or DVD's.
I would suggest you clean CD with cleaning tissue. The fog may be dirty finger marks. -------------------- Frank

We had a problem with I Found My Thrill. We used one of those hand wound cd cleaner things and all the 'fog' was removed.

"BUMP" for new readers/members who may? find things are not right with there EP cd"s etc!. Climate could be an effect on peoples collection. Humidity, cold, etc. I have downloads of all of the FTD's and other titles even if I own the CD. Never hurts to have a back up. I can't wait until they release liquid chip hard drives. The future is bright. :0) |

I have had DVD's that won't play.
That turned out that the DVD needed cleaning. I don't think record companies would send out duff CD's. If you get sticky playing CD's just give it a good clean. I don't think there is CD Rot as I think it's just your dirt upsetting your playing. -------------------- Frank

Here in the US ,I had this issue with the Moody Blue released CD. It's really funny because on the back of the Jewel case is a trademark that states "a lifetime of music" !!
I took it back to the store and they looked at me like idiots never seeing rot before they were stumped. They said go ahead and get another one. I said NO ! I want that one back because I'm making an issue out of it. .......................long and short of it , I contacted a rep at RCA/BMG and said my piece only for having it fall on dead ears and getting a new one mailed. They know they are making trash but wont admit it.................Bring back vinyl !!! -------------------- ""Postman Postman don't go slow, be like ELVIS go man go"" !!!!
