Polk Salad Annie.( Johnson City, March 19th, 1976) ____________________________________________ It's been a long time since Memory records suprised us with a new release. This time,it's a real suprise!! Other then the FTD of "America" not much is out on silver disc from this tour. This cd contains the (almost)complete audience recording of the april 25 1976 eveningshow from Long Beach, CA. The sound is not "that" really good, memory produced better, but when you have listened to these kind of recordings,it's not that bad also. Remember that tour shows where hard to tape in such big concert halls. I liked this concert a lot,he is in good form, enjoys himself and the audience. You are sitting in the audience, that's the kind of feeling i had during the first time i played this cd!! The bonus section sounds better and is a nice treat since these songs are and sounding really good!! Therefore i thank this label for bringing a "new" show to us collectors. In times where re-issues are the norm, the audiecerecordings are still coming strong. A cd for the real concert collector!

Altough it's not essential,it's a very good upbeat show!!
He proves himself again. I realy don't understand that some people(fans?)are bashing this show before they heard one note of it. Some forums are to blind to see. Lucky TKC is another fanleague! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumbup.gif) It is Elvis in 1976,he does not look or is 100% healthy, but he sings perfect!! So Shaun and Chris,if you have some spare cash, you can do worse then invest in this baby!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rockon.gif) -------------------- |

I agree with Johan, A too much overlooked concert from April 1976.
A top show from our Hero! This show is also released as ' The Concert Years Vol. 61. Regards, mrsongman -------------------- "There's some girl over there who yelled through the whole song, so honey put some tape over your mouth" # Elvis after singing Blue Christmas (Huntsville ALA Sept. 6th 1976).

I like your review on this Johan, given Elvis credit during a time of his life when so many others love to take cheap shots at him.
Believe it or not, I am a huge fan of the soundboards we have from 1976, like Old Times They Are Not Forgotten, and Elvis The Bicentennial Experience. Can't explain it, he wasn't in the best of health at all, but yet his singing shines through. This is one I am on the close lookout for, thank you for the review. |

Hey Johan I listened to this whole CD earlier this afternoon throug headphones, granted the sound isn't the "best" audience recording i have heard but its plenty good enough to hear the music, and Elvis talking, although it does seem abit muffled at times when he talks. I don't see how you can go wrong with this show in all honestly, its a great one imo, the setlist rocks, My Way is performed very very well, perhaps now my 2nd favorite live version, the first being from the CBS Special. Trying To Get To You, Polk Salad, And I Love You So were other highlights. Compared to the tours from July and August this is a very good show. IMO, its right up there if not higher than the shows from March of 1976.

I'm glad you like the show too Pieter and Brad!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumbup.gif)
This IS a fine show,in fact,in a way it's more of a revelation than the "Stripped of my heart" release(elswhere in the "S" section). We all know that the 1973 show was perfect. No need to repeat that again,no further proof is needed. This memory release gives proof that these kind of concerts from 1976 are too much overlooked.. There is a rough diamond to be found if they will listen carefully without prejudice. -------------------- |

In my opinion the whole April '76 tour is pretty much overlooked. The concerts were not only strongly sung (Elvis is in very good voice this tour), but the setlists were very varied also (just like in Tahoe '76).
I've had this concert on CDR for years now and it's easily the best concert of the tour and one that I from time to time still very much enjoy ! -------------------- "How do I get placed in situations like this? Ah hell, I guess it's all part of showbusiness "~ Elvis in his limo on his way to perform in Omaha, NE on June 19th 1977
