You are so right, Elvis always did a splendid job on "Unchained melody." This short tour of December 1976 was simply amazing. Some consider this tour one of Elvis' best! I agree this was one of Elvis' best tours even though it was so short. It was really cool to hear these songs..

First time I ever wanted to be a Hindu so I could shout out "HOLY COW!"
Just got this and been listening to it while looking at Parish Finances (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) and its amazing! I've had some hair stand on end moments listening to Elvis, but that Polk Salad Annie is just awesome, even my toe hairs burst through me boots! The whole concert is wonderful: the band, the backing singers, the orchestra are all superb and Elvis? Elvis is sublime! His singing, talking, joking, moving are all one unit of musical mastery. Who cares how many candles we sold last week when the king resurrects the Polk Salad chiggaboom! Second December 1976 show I've seen/heard this week: someone build me a time machine, let me jump back to there, grab the man's hand and say "come on son, you're doing great! Don't go!" -------------------- "When I Do the best I can, and my friends misunderstand, stand by me"   |

This show (parts) have been issued in BINURL (wrong spelling = stereo )on a couple of cds...so this show may come out in better sound if they have it all in this 2 track stereo,and re-mix it in to mono...

an FTD project maybe?? they should have come up with something about this tour last year. We need Wichita anyway, and as far as I know they had recorded it.
We NEED this show in better sound...and as Fr Conor's words show...it deserves some attention from BMG -------------------- I'd rather go on hearing your lies....than smell your armpits son

For some reason they chose a cut and paste job from several '75 concerts instead ! its amazing how the last leg of this tour ended on a high note[no pun intended], with great shows in DALLAS , FORT WAYNE, BIRMINGHAM, and of course pitts-i think he was happy with ginger and it lasted for a while, and then once again he became depressed, by feb tour he was set in the old pattern of throw a ways.

With regard to post 1969 concerts, wasn't this the first and only time Elvis appeared in Birmigham?

the first time Elvis played in Birmingham, Alabama was on 6 may 1955; in the 70;s this was the only time.
there excists no soundboards from 30-31 december 1976. that's one of the reasons FTD has released an audience recording with 31-12-76 concert. in 1978 there was released a LP titled "Live in Atlanta"; the songs were taken from a video tape and incomplete with terrible sound. you can hear the projector. some tracks like Such a night were released on several imports. colonel snow --------------------  |

Thanks for adding that information about him playing there already once in '55. Elvis probably didn't knew that anymore or he was soley refering to the '70's.
