I mainly collect CD's, although not necessarily for the sake of collecting......I do play all of my CD's, there are none in my collection still in their shrink wrap, they've all made their way to the CD player at one time or another.
I have many things left from my younger days, when I would be anxious to snap up almost anything. I occasionally still get the odd book, but just don't have the room, and more sadly no longer have the income, to allow me to collect on a wider scale. Even the CD's I buy are "within budget" so to speak, but if money and storage space weren't an issue, I'd have a larger collection, no question about that. -------------------- "Government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem" -Ronald Reagan (Jan. 20, 1981) |

The main aspect is CD collecting. Whatever i can get when i can afford it. Its my passion !! I do collect DVDs and books when something takes my fancy. I am not into concert DVDs with poor quality footage.....would rather stick to the official stuff, unless the quality is good.
Have a couple of Vegas menus, a beauty of an Elvis autograph....and quite a few other bits and bobs....hundreds of magazines and poster mags. Used to collect the original movie posters...think i have around a dozen...but to be honest i would rather spend what spare cash i have now on my CD collection. -------------------- |

It's simple, I collect anything Elvis like Chris though the main thing for me right now is the Cd's and footage and book's.
It's so fun waiting for stuff to arrive in the mail..Right now i'm waiting on a crap load of dvd's to come in from overseas with all kinds of different footage..I love it..collecting, making the collection bigger and bigger.!! |

Hi. I collect 12" vinyl from around the world and I am particularly facied by 12" boxed sets. I also have and collect some 8-track, cassette, and cd boxed sets. Its these things that I actively seek out and I am always trying to add to my colection with new pieces.
I also have saved selected posters from over the years like the one to the left of this message. -------------------- Elvis Collector In Canada

There is a historical time line in my collector's life>> I started with collecting vinyl - then from 1974 vinyl imports; when this market was blew up in the early 80's I started collecting audience recordings on audio cassette and outtakes that were not available elswhere.
Then around 1984 CD collecting starts with the first imports in 1988. Around 1998 I started transferring my audio tapes to audio CD's or CDR and in the beginning of this century I start collecting "originals" (songs recorded by another artist before Elvis made his version). Of course I collect DVD's but I prefer CD's because while listing you can do other things at the same time. For watching DVD you have to take a chair and see on TV etc. I collect the important books too but no photo books. And with collecting I don't collect more than one of the same LP/CD for a different cover etc; photographs ; memorabilia and all other commercial things because I go for the music. I don't need 50 times the same song and that s someting else then a few hundred times Can't help falling in love as closing theme because that is performed on different dates. My wife always said when I play live recordings: I hear the same songs; but for me it is not because it was recorded on another date. colonel snow -------------------- |

Just the music. So CDs for me. Not into other stuff. Just like Elvis for his voice and music. Couldn't care less about anything else.

While I was single I collected all bootleg and official CD's.
I would think nothing of spending £300 on CD's, sadly can't do that anymore. I get the odd album when I can, but I'm glad I was able to go mental - I wouldn't have the collection I have now if I hadn't. In short......I collect Elvis music(Cd`s and DVD`s) I just love all of his music, wether it`s 50`, 60`or 70`...studio recordings, Live recordings.....I Just collect it all..Little by little when money comes by. (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/cool2.gif) I do have all his songs on different cd`s, all of his movies, a lot of videos/DVD`s and a few books, Sessions III, Rocking across Texas.....and more(Books that you just need to own (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/rockon.gif) ), but I`ve read most of the essiential books though...as borrough though the libery.
To me, the Music is the main thing, but of cause the whole history about the man, his music and his life is really nice to have too. |
