Yeah, there's all sorts of level of collector, and that's not neccessarily related to the level of fandom!

Yep, you're making a very good point there Davy. Someone with a dozen Elvis CD's may be as devoted a fan as the longtime collector with thousands of CD's on his shelves. It's a matter of opportunity and economy... (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/wiggle.gif)

Still, it's fun to hear about other's collections... (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

I've got about 500 cd's in total, not a huge amout when compared to other collections. It's kinda funny that a collection of 500 cd's in the Elvis world is not a huge amount, weird really.

I have somewhere in the region of 500+ ELVIS cd's, I used have to have hundreds on vinyl also but I had to let it go to make space for my ever increasing cd collection which must be over 2,000 by now

I have about 250 Elvis CD's. Sounds good but i've bought them during 20 years... That's about 1 CD/month. Here's the proof that even from a small income you can build up a relatively nice collection - during 20 years. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

I have like over 500 or more I think including the freebies from the papers. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/winking0001.gif)

I'm still in the process of sorting them out to see how many I actually own.

Well i have well over a thousand Elvis Cds....and i don't have a high percentage of whats available throughout the world....wouldn't like to make a guess either. Especially now that so much early material is a free for all - release wise (IMG:style_emoticons/default/undecided.gif)

In some cases yes. But that is part of collecting. Don't forget that a big percentage of bootleg albums ( 1000's of them ) have concert recordings and session recordings. So you may get the same song, but every take of the song and in some cases hundreds of live versions. All of which are different to another to some extent (IMG:style_emoticons/default/notworthy.gif)

I am actually a collector of Cds, as well as being a collector of his music. ( when finances allow that is) It makes sense to me to buy almost any Elvis CD, just because i collect them. If i don't have them..then i try to get them. Of course....there are limits. With the countless 50s compilations around now..i don't bother with many of those..but i do own some. It's like collecting anything....its what a collector does. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I'm a little confused when it comes to what "collecting" means since I've come to TKC. There are so many compilations made by people on here, or compilations that are announced on here.. I can't keep track of what's officially out there for sale and official, or what's been made by fans just for the pleasure of creating! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif)

So when you say 50s compilations... what're you talking about specifically?

I'm sorry, this is probably a silly question to you guys.. I'm just still trying to grasp a lot of stuff. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused.gif)
