Ok, shhhh, don't tell anyone here in Liverpool but I seriously dislike the Beatles!
It came to mind as I just drove home through Liverpool listening to the radio and "I am a Walrus" was played as a classic track!
Sheesh! What's with calling them all geniuses? Sure they were good as rocker's in the early days but then they just went plain weird and we're expected to admire their artistic integrity.
Elvis in the 60's gets knocked, but even "Do the Clam" isn't as ridiculous as calling yourself a walrus!
Elvis gets slated in the 70's for singing country n loosing his roots: well forgive me but listening to a frog chorus ain't my cup of tea even if it is on the Mull of Kintyre!
And, why, oh why, oh why, do people think "Imagine" is appropriate for a funeral - how many times am I gonna have to say "well "Imagine there's no heaven" isn't really appropriate in a Church." The tunes nice, but the words are just dangerous. Imagine walking round wearing nothing but a straggly beard and calling it art instead.
Memphis = Elvis and he lived there and died there. Liverpool = The Beatles but as soon as they earned some money they were outta here to be posh down south.
Beatles songs I like: Hey Jude, Yesterday.
I do like George Harrison though, and "Something" is a great song.

Hohum, got that of my chest, so endeth the first lesson, a collection will now be taken up.

I don't mind them. Many songs are ok/good, many others very ordinary....and some of what i have heard total rubbish. (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/down.gif)

Certainly over-rated IMO (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/down.gif)

I'm with you, Father Conor, the Beatles were good in their early, "Rockin'" days. But that all came to a screeching halt when they decided to become "Artists".

Well overrated in my book.....

Personally never cared for the "fab four", but I don't mind hearing them on the radio. In their later years defenately over-rated as hell, in their early years they were good.

For me a lot of the Beatles' recordings now sound very dated.
As opposed to many of Elvis' songs from the same era and earlier which still sound as fresh today as they did then.
And thats the mark of a GREAT artist. (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I still think Beatles records sounded the same. Some ballads was very good. It did take 4 to get a reaction.

I don't mind a couple of Beatles(or should I say The Flumps,Conor)songs.
I'm not into The Beatles whatsoever.I don't own any albums/cd's of them.
I'd rather hear Elvis singing Old Macdonald, than listen to them.
I think The Monkees are better,JMO....sorry if I've offended anyone.
