Just in the middle of Tupelo and Memphis, you can find the small town of Holly Springs: a town like so many others in the USA, if it was not for citizen Paul McLeod who lives in his 'own' Graceland since the seventies: Graceland Too. The exentric
(IMG:http://www.elvismatters.com/nieuws/afbeeldingen/thumbnails/173_20070510221142.jpg) 'number 1 Elvis fan in the world' has so much to tell and show that they are making a movie about him, his life and his house. Every square inch of his house is covered with Elvis related items. Bedroom, kitchen and badroom have made place for his collection. He only eats fastfood and he sleeps a couple of hours between 2 tours in his sofa in the living room. He claims that in the last 25 years he had more than 310.000 visitors, but like with all of Pauls calculations you can take this with a grain of salt. There are 10 VCR's on duty 24/7, so he can record all the programs that talk about Elvis. You can visit his site and watch the trailer on the links below this article. I've got Pauls house and collection on a few different videos, Elvis U.S.A. and Viva Elvis. He's also got a song named Elvis Aaron who is around my age or a year or two older. His collection is the best I have ever seen! A true fan in every sense of the word

paul has bin a great friend of mine for almost 37 years, he attended over 800 performances[he has all the stubs to prove it along with the films, photos, we both own copies of the last memphis performance[76] of which was recorded by tv crew, and sold from tom hullet [a year before his death] he was one of the first fans at graceland gates on aug 16 77, he's areal nice gent[people are always takin a shot at him] his devotion to E.P. is unequeled, as is our collections- we were both on montell in 93, in which we showed our elvis rooms, a graet guy all the same[an origianl fan].

To be truthful I'd love to live in something like that myself. The only bad thing about it would be having to clean it all (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) He's also on Joes' video His Best Friend Remembers

I didn't mean to sound disparaging......he's obviously a dedicated fan and may well be a fine person.
But I still say he needs to get out a bit. -------------------- |

Certainly Scat...he's in danger of becoming that kind of eccentric fanatic you cannot even talk to.....if he's not already.
(though I wouldn't mind being like that myself) (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/LSHIC.gif) -------------------- I'd rather go on hearing your lies....than smell your armpits son

All I can say is....I'm going to go visit that man and see if I can occupy an hour or more!
WOW!!! I am amazed, that is devotion and a true fan. Some people go through their lives hurting others and being mean. This man Paul has spent his life admiring and loving a person who we all love and admire... with the acception that he lived close and saw him 800 or more times. We don't have the collection this man has but we do Love Elvis and collect what we can. Isn't it great that he has these things for us and that he shares it with the world? He is doing something good for those who Love Elvis keeping Elvis's memory alive, and I for one would like to thank him for this. I would have done more about seeing Elvis live if I had been older, being a teenager you only have so much you can do.......Now that this is an option for me, I will be going to visit his collection. The more Elvis.....the Better! Some say eccentric. I say: He couldn't have chosen a more gifted human being of our time to devote his admiration to. Elvis is one of a kind and should have this kind of respect and love shown to him. Elvis shared with us all his GOD given gifts, I won't ever get too much Elvis! (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (And it was mentioned he does have a son so he had a life too!) Let's enjoy his collection and stories and be thankful he did that, or parts of Elvis would be lost forever. Very well said Donna! There's a part in TTWII where someone said that if we all lived our lives like Elvis did the world would be a better place, er something along those lines, lol. Those words are embedded in my mind and I strongly try to live by them. Pauls collection is without a doubt the best I have ever seen. Second runner up would be Robin Roseanns' collection. Alot of people think fans like them are whacked out in their heads but I would love to have the space for something like that.
Chris, I'm sure Jules would get use to it. My girlfriend got use to it after awhile. Though I must confess she's the first one not to leave my ass because of Elvis, lol (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) -------------------- Matt |

And about someone leaving you....they aren't worth your trouble if they don't like Elvis. I won't even date someone if they have a negative reaction when I mention his name. I figure why waste my time and theirs, I'm not giving up my Elvis! I wish I had a large place for a collection too...and the money to do it! I would in a New York heartbeat. I can't wait to go see this man Paul's collection. Thanks for the post about him. -------------------- "The man who can sing when he hasn't got a thing is the King, of the whole wide world." |
