This post on AEK made me smile a little tonight.....
It seems the Advert Block in The Man & his Music.. works... (first time I've seen it mentioned this year...)
Nice to know that 17 sub-forums is a challenge... I sort of knew that anyway... you just have to give it some time.... to get into it all.
and FECC Forum is no challenge at all.... once you have Tip-toed around all the egos....
"Ben" is the Ben that pops in on us sometimes.... seems to think we are a bit like the OLD "ELVIS MONTHLIES"
I think its nearer a FLASHY VERSION of the old ELVIS WEEKLY'S (Ben you need to get more back issues!)
Is it bad to be Popular and Organised (?) or UNPOPULAR and DIS-Organised (!)
An Elvis site can only be as good as the members that stick with it.....
The Style of the Site is dictated by the people that Post in it... I think we have a Nice Variety of Styles and Interests.....
AEK is just ticking over and along.... a small Elvis group... doing what small sites do... really just a chat site... with sometimes an Interesting Image, Info & comment.... best of luck to them....

Now about my 18th Elvis Sub-Forum "Chris" ?

Other Elvis forums
by suave harv » Thu Oct 15, 2009

I was browsing tonight, hoping to find news on the latest bootleg stuff, and I came across this one. .

http://www.elvis-tkc.com/

It's advertised in The Man And His Music. I was looking for reviews or thoughts on The Final Homecoming, it's out now but I don't know anyone that has a copy, but I couldn't find mention of it on The King's Court, (but I did spot our old friend Maurice Colgan! a radio station had phoned him up and he was telling everyone, same old.. ).

Anyway, there's seventeen sub-forums on that board. That alone would do my head in! There's seperate forums for BMG releases, bootlegs, movies, 'collectables' (one can only guess . . ), and of course it's smiley city. As much as we moan about FECC, I think FECC very easy to navigate compared to The King's Court. And it's a lot more 'male'. In that, I mean they are into sound quality, take numbers, little details. The King's Court has lots of old-style fan type worship.

Do you go to another Elvis board? I drop by on Ben's Monkey board, but it's like this one, a small forum for a select few. I'd like to find another busy forum for Elvis CD collectors. I don't want to go back to FECC, and as popular and as organised as The King's Court is, it's not my style.

Perhaps the EIN has a forum? I'll go and have a look. .

I believe in the ol' saying, "variety is the spice of life"....when it come to personalities.....or ELVIS threads and information.
I like tkc for that reason. TKC has a nice mix of ELVIS fans.... and different types of threads and informations on ELVIS....as ELVIS might say....SOMETHING FOR EVERYBODY.

Hi REX,

suave harv offered me 20 pounds for an Elvis Monthly sometime back. I chose to keep it because it's an old and rare one with Dolores Hart and Elvis on the cover. The ficklness of some Elvis fans can be very amusing.

A moderator on FECC is boasting his Forum got more than 20,000 hits on the 16th August. (But only 2 people registered :-))

I flit around all the Forums and as I have said before the Elvis Grapevine is never silent.

This forum is the most polite and pleasant to read, by far.

Some self-congratulating and constant bickering people on FECC give Elvis Forums a bad name.

TKC has everything that i want from a forum. From great friendly fans to those with excellent knowledge. What is not to be liked ? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/whistling.gif)

Shit. Couldn't even post that WITHOUT a DAMN Smiley. Oh well. That will never do will it.

Old style fan type worship and smiley central ?? Just one question for him....if he does happen to visit again. Did he even bother to read anything whilst he was here ?

There are many different types of Elvis forums. They are ( for the most part ) what the members make them. FECC is like it is...because of the members. We have a great group of fans her on TKC. As shaun has said..some with immense knowledge of Elvis. Certain members on other forums know it all...without actually knowing anything. If you don't agree with their opinon, then you are wrong..period. We don't have that here. We have folks with specialists knowledge in certain areas. Some Jumpsuit specialists....pictures....CDs.....and then folks like Rex ( to name just one ) who have a vast overall knowledge about Elvis.... and more to the point.... actually witnessed the events themselves. All together it makes for the complete Elvis forum in my opinion.

Sometimes we are quiet. Sometimes too quiet for my liking. But...rather that...and keep TKC as the forum i wanted it to be in the first place....than it change into somewhere i don't like.

From Rex:
It was the following day.. 23 hours later... and Quoting what was said (Below) but hasn't been back since... I seem to frightened HARV off... but I like the words "EMBRACING" and "GUSTO".. and in 10 minutes he got around the difficult navigation.. to find me! Plus "It's a nice place to visit"

See CHRIS we are winning the battle ! ~ I think my knowlege is in the Living of it... I have the 50s memories as a 10 to 12 year old.... but from the end of 1961... I really started to live it... (His Latest Flame-Little Sister)... and every release from then I bought 45s and LPs on release (70s before pre-release) in 1962.. found ways to get enough money together to go to the Cinema on my own.... so caught GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS just after the opening release... then all Elvis' films on release..... later Advance showings, special showings and even Press release...

I just read that my copy of WONDERFUL WORLD OF XMAS arrived 21st September 1971, I reviewed it on the 27th September in the News Service.... and in the first week I had it.... I took it with me to the ROYAL FESTIVAL HALL in London for an Elvis Event... and when I offered it to them...they played it to everyone in the hall... (the USA Release was 3rd week of October) so I had a copy a month before it was in the Stateside Record Shops.

The 60s memories I have ~ never really got written down before... the ELVIS WEEKLY only very rarely covered ELVIS FLASHBACKS... So its nice to cover that period a little now on ELVIS TKC.... Its also easy to look up forgotten memories on the Internet... mostly when you find it again... I think yes of course thats what happened... and you can just interweave it into the things you still remember... to make it more factual.

Thankyou Chris for the nice words... hopefully the forum is a little busier this December.... than last year ? I read some thoughts about 2008 for this time period... that seemed worrying at the time... Xmas and all the rushing around you have to do - makes having the time to Browse TKC ~ I can see is an extra pressure.... I feel a need to try harder this month.. so at least you can't blame yourself. Thanks for the writting desk.... "R"

I've just spent ten minutes browsing the King's Court forum, and there's some very interesting stuff there.
I see Rex Martin is posting there, some 3,000 posts since last year. Looks like he's come out of hiding and is embracing the internet with gusto!

Once you get round the difficult navigation, it's a nice place to visit. I forgot, but I joined there earlier in the year.

Chris, this thread has had 139 hits and just 9 posts, so we are not exactly without readers from a host of other Forums.

All the "new" stuff REX is posting has become an added attraction.

At almost 68 years old I'm not remotely concerned about the views of those out to diminish other Elvis fans or the hard work they put into providing fine Elvis Forums like this one.

Thanks for the kind comments !

TKC was always supposed to be a friendly forum where fans can just enjoy Elvis...the man and his music. I never liked the way some other forums were run....nasty comments everywhere. I am pleased that..for the most part..we are not like that here. As Admin and the whole TKC team will do all they can to keep the forum that way. Friendly....but still interesting for any fan at whatever level and interest. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumbup.gif)

I was a member of Fecc for years and some of the members are so full of sh#t that they dont realise that they are damaging Elvis reputation. Elvis-tkc is where its at and i for one am glad to be here.
