Lyrics

Almost in Love

(Text & music by Bonfa - Starr)

Your lips were made for kisses so tender
I'm almost in love tonight
When we are close, my heart says surrender
I'm almost in love tonight

And here under the spell of evening
I long to hold you tight
Heaven is near, why think of tomorrow
I'm almost in love tonight

It may be just the spell of evening
I long to hold you tight
Heaven is near, why think of tomorrow
I'm almost in love tonight

Almost in love

Notes:

Elvis sang Almost In Love to Michele Carey in his 1968 movie "Live A Littel, Love A Littel".
The Instrumental Track was recorded on March 7, 1968, at Western Records in Hollywood.
Elvis his vocal was added at a later date. The Album had a shorter Instrumental introduction then the film version. This was the only Bonfa composition for Elvis.

The first 3 bars (7 seconds) were cut on the LP version of Almost in Love.

The Avon CD "Almost in Love" has a mix problem and is not included as source.

Firts LP release:

Great info as always Steve....love the track too...for some reason i have always thought it would make a great James Bond theme....

Agreed, Chris.....This is one very cool track!!! It has a very "Loungy" feel to it........Put this song on and slip into a dry martini.

Wish E would have done a full album of this type of material......A perfect fit for him, expertly sung with a very "SWANKY" feel.

Look for this to be on my "Shaken Not Stirred" Elvis Ultimate Lounge CD!!!!!

I love this track, too, and would have loved to hear Elvis sing more of this style.

Almost In Love track is like a James Bond song. Especially when there is a romantic scene.
This did not chart in the UK and was released with A Little Less Conversation on a single.
It's a different type of ballad for Elvis.

Almost in love

The tune was recorded for the first time in jan. 1966 by Luiz Bonfá for an album. It is an instrumental version. Later on lyrics were added. I don't know if there were lyrics added in another language (Portuguese??) before English lyrics were added.

Almost In Love has and always will be a favourite of mine, it shows just how good a voice Elvis had.
