the CD is released in 2002; in june 2003 the same concert is released with the title " Slippin' and slidin' with Elvis" (label Memory rec. MR 2033);
it seemed that the sound of the second release is better than the first one. as I don't have both CD's I can't compare the sound. colonel snow -------------------- |

I must say that the sond of "Another Opening Night" isn't that bad, although it's not top notch either.
It's a fairly decent show (false start for both See See Rider [sound problems] and All Shook Up [Elvis gets lost in the lyrics]). My Way is a request, sadly Elvis is joking and laughing very [too] much during the song. Unusual placement of Jailhouse Rock that far back in the set-list, but this also was a requst. 1st performance since July 24th 1975 and done only 4 times this Tahoe season, starting with the next tour it would become a concert standard untill his last live performance. As with My Way and Jailhouse Rock, American Trilogy is a request also and as with Jailhouse Rock also the 1st time live after July 24th 1975. It would be performed only 4 more times (May 2nd/3rd, July 4th 1976 and June 2nd 1977) It may not be a brilliant concert, I enjoyed listening to it nevertheless. I think the concert is brilliant stefan, not his best concert perfromance wise, but look at the set list itself. This concert has the right numbers placed in the right spot. Instead of having all the 50's songs in a row they are mixed in a ittle here and a little there.
I usually get bored when all the 50's songs get on a row and and it takes the concerts down. Here it's done perfectly, the show has a decent flow. And i don't mind the jokes, we have tons of cncerts where Elvis did "My way" ordinary, it's grate to hear Elvis make some jokes in these more serious lyrical songs aswell. In a certain way I agree with you Einar, except for the fact that he joking and laughing trough a "request", wonder what the people who requested the song thought? I don't say I don't like it, but it's a bit unprofessional imo. I know that I wouldn't have liked it [img]style_emoticons/default/wink.gif[/img]
As far as the tracklist goes, these Tahoe '76 concerts have all great tracklistings. He sang several songs he hadn't done in quite a while (Jailhouse Rock, American Trilogy, It's Midnight, I'll Remember You, The Wonder Of You among others) and I agree, the show is defenately above average. -------------------- "How do I get placed in situations like this? To my knowledge,it's also the first show that John Wilkinson played a solo during the introductions.
John,suprised by Elvis request,played an instrumental version of "Early morning rain",much to Elvis delight. "I didn't know that you could do dat ,John". Next time,John would sing it also!! Good show,better remasterd on the memory release,but still the same source as this digipack,both recomended for collector's reasons. Rare version of "American trilogy "too. -------------------- |
