Bad luck blues
The song was written by Doc Pomus & Mort Shuman. According to an unconfirmed story the song was offered to Elvis around 1962 but rejected. I've no more information about the recording. colonel snow

In 1971 RCA wanted singles – a pop album – a gospel album and first of all a new Christmas album.
Hill & Range / Freddy Bienstock selected songs for Elvis’ albums and movies. Through the years Freddie Bienstock have sent hundreds of acetates to Elvis. The acetate with ”As Joseph is a walking” is a demo version recorded by an Elvis-sound-a-like; probably rejected in a pre-selection because Elvis had folk songs in his mind for the may 1971 recordings and new releases. About the song: It’s a Christmas carol composed in 1918 by Geoffrey Shaw Known versions: Recorded in 1961 by Joseph D. Frances on YT In 1970 recorded by Chuck Wagon Gang on LP Going home for Christmas (Columbia 30263) colonel snow

This not a really rejected song but according to an Interview with Don Robertson the song I’m yours was written for the wedding scene (scene 251) in the movie Blue Hawaii but rejected in the pre-selection. Later on recorded in the studio on 26 june 1961.

The song was written by Fuller-Weisman-Wise; when the title from the movie changed from The beach boy (script 17 october 1960) into Blue Hawaii (final script 23 february 1961) the song was rejected in the pre-selection. colonel snow -------------------- |

The version for the movie was written by Sid Wayne and Ben Weisman; RCA credited the song to Alex Gottlieb (screenplay) - Fred Karger (musical director from the movie) and Ben Weisman. It's unclear if the lyrics are re-written or the version by Syd Wayne-Ben Weisman is rejected. The tune is based on a version from the roaring twenties. colonel snow -------------------- |

A version was written by Ab Silver and Sid Wayne for the movie King Creole but was rejected in the pre-selection; the version (track KTD-1 = track K take 10) written by Wise-Weisman was used. After a few rejections during earlier recording sessions the song was submitted for the movie Paradise Hawaiian style. However the song was replaced for that scene by This is my heaven. The song was recorded later on 11 september 1967 in a non-movie recording session. colonel snow -------------------- |
