Notes:

Interesting show from late August '71. Great tracklisting and Bridge Over Troubled Water very unusual as closing song. A reprise is needed before Ronnie begins (still a bit late) the Closing Vamp.

* Tracks 3 & 4 are a medley.
* Tracks 11 & 12 are a medley which is closed with another bit of "Blue Suede Shoes".
* Tracks 13 & 14 are a medley.

additional info:
the concert was first released as a part of the 3 LP set " Live years ' (label Astra 004) in 1987; later on the 3 LP's appeared as single LP's with different titles like " Las Vegas Hilton " with the date of the concert .

In 1994 released on this CD (label TCB 1971).

A underated year we don't hear much about 1971, i think it's mainly because we have both videos and much material from 1970 and 1972.

Presonally i love the 1971 stuff and im still hoping for more of the early 1971 concerts to be released on soundboard aswell as the later tours the same year, thr must be moe out there.

I agree with you Einar. It's mainly the 1st half of 1971 we don't have many from. August and November are fairly docuented with audience recordings (wouldn't mind having those on sounboard though [img]style_emoticons/default/LSHIC.gif[/img] )

The 1971 shows are very different. and even more so during the first engagements. I don't know how to explain it, it's like a mixture of 1970 and 1972 musically... But with it's own charm.

I have read many people claiming 1971 as not that much to write hme about, i think those rumors are because of the wast amount of audience recordings, since we get overload and feedback.

When you listen to the soundboards aviable you get a clearer sound picture but still it's not the real sound you would get from a Ree-to-reel i suspect some of the soundboards out there are many generations away from the orginal source.

I know exactly what you mean. 1970 & 1972 are two totally different years musically and also for the arrangements. The further 1971 got, the more it became a mix of old (1970) and new (1972). I can't think of any other year that this proces happend and was so "visable". In many ways 1971 is far more interesting than most people tend to believe.

A very good show with pretty descent sound...the copy I have is called "The Live Years Vol.1"....'71, imo, is the most underrated year during the 70's...maybe it got over shadowed because of TTWII in 1970, EOT from '72, or Aloha '73....but 1971 is one of my favorite years for concerts and produced many great concerts!
