Notes:

Elvis Opening Night show from his August/September '73 season. A decent show with a good tracklisting. Too bad he dropped Raised On Rock as soon as the 2nd show, it sounds actually quite good. Also Memphis Tennessee is a surprise, and a pleasant one at that, to hear.

Fantasic show,rare versions,this opening night rocks.

Note,the 2001 theme(cut on this cd) had a "disco" style version as opening theme.
Weird to hear,but not so over the top as Albert Goldmann put it in his "ELVIS" book.
Next day the theme was back to normal.

The complete show with the "disco"theme included,was put on a CDR named "I was raised on rock" in slight lesser sound then this one,but more complete.

that's the reason to collect audience recordings; there are collectors who want everything but for me there are standards to keep an AR in the collection or not.
when the sound is too poor it goes out.

A terrific opening night show! The inclusion of "Trouble" is always a treat, and "Memphis Tennessee" is a really nice song! The rare "Raised on Rock" is a nice surprise. While not one of Elvis' more notable songs, it would have been nice to have Raised... sing in a few other concerts.

after 1993 a better tape with this concert turned up; I have no idea if this better source is used for the 2004 release "Caught in a trap";

This better source may have been used for the bonus disc that came with the 1st 100 copies of The Sound Of Vegas, volume 1.

And this release was on hell of a concert for me back then, i just loved that opening "disco 2001" super cool (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/clap.gif) (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/clap.gif)

I think i still have that cd, but bet the sound will be a big turn off, if i play it today (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/LSHIC.gif) (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/LSHIC.gif)
