Most of which i have to say i didn't agee with. Sure...it seems that Elvis' mind isn't entirely on singing...there is some goofing around. But whats wrong with that ? Would we rather not have it then ? Some songs are performed very well and i think that its a mixed bag of good performances and some where Elvis is just having fun. No...its not the best show 'E' ever did...but by no means the worst either....recommended listening IMO. What are your thoughts ? -------------------- |

Although I like the show a lot (ever since I heard the audiance recording of it), I still feel that it is an very unprofessional show and that the audiance deserved better than this. But it is easy talking from behind a pc 32 years after it happened (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/laughing1.gif) (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/laughing1.gif)

I've just bought Closing Night FTD a couple of days ago... and it's a different kind of show alright.
Although Elvis is joking a lot and messing around with the lyrics of the songs, in my opinion, this concert is highly entertaining. I think it was hilarious when the band started to play Suspicious Minds and Elvis started to sing Bridge Over Troubled Water. Elvis was certainly having fun, but the show has some very good performances as well... like My Boy just to mention one. I bet I'll find myself listening to this show A LOT! |

After reading about this on Elvisnews.com i just had to listen to it.
I am very glad I did....it'sthe best show I have heard so far...just for the laughs alone. How great though art on this cd is equal to the one on Aloha from Hawaii.....it's perfect |

How great though art on this cd is equal to the one on Aloha from Hawaii.....it's perfect Only one minor problem, he didn't sang How Great hou Art in Hawaii You either mean Elvis On Tour (1972) or Elvis in Concert (1977). Eitherway, How Great Thou Art is indeed brilliantly done (as always). -------------------- "How do I get placed in situations like this? Thanks for that Stefan
What I meant to say was in my opinion Elvis never sounded better than when he did Aloha from Hawaii and that his voice was as clear on this track as it was back then. Sometimes I think of things then forget to write them |

I only have a poor audience recording of this show and a lot of the dialogue is lost because of that. But after reading this thread and peoples opinions it is definetly a CD I want.
For me personally I like to hear Elvis fooling around on stage and I bet nobody in the audience that night complained!! I know if I'd had a choice of going to one concert during this engagement or any other time I would always go for a closing night, when there is traditionally a longer show with different songs and lot of humour, which to me is Elvis at his best. -------------------- |

Another CD that had a mixed reaction from the fans when it was released. To be honest, i couldn't understand much of the bad reports it got. Sure, he did fool around a fair bit during the show....but for me it was it is a very enjoyable show to listen to. If you don't yet have it Steve...i would recommend it for certain -------------------- |

It is an enjoyable show. IMO, the songs performed after the band intro's were all fantastic. Seems like Elvis got more serious. Plus it has one of my favorite versions of Mystery Train/Tiger Man.
