This cd is one of the latest additions to my collection, and I just listened to it through yesterday.
The first thing that hit me, was the sound. This is definitely one of the best sounding soundboards I've ever heard. The next thing I noticed was the drummer. Ronnie's not behind the drums this time. It's Larrie Londin. He's definitely not a better drummer than Ronnie, but it was nice to hear someone else for a change. And I must say, this is not a bad show at all. Some of the highlights for me were; Steamroller Blues, which sounded almost exactly like it was done in '74. Very bluesy. Polk Salad Annie. Elvis and the band are rockin' the house down. This song has some very sweet guitar playing from J.B. And I Love You So is sung beatutifully, after one false start. And of course, Hurt. Elvis' new record, which he does twice in a row. Overall, a very good show. There's some laughing and joking during some of the songs, but it just showed that Elvis was in a good mood. I really enjoyed the show. Maybe I'll take another listen to it tonight. [img]style_emoticons/default/cool.gif[/img] |

-------------------------------------------------------- Larrie indeed added someting fresh to the show (more so than Shane Keister on piano). Also his energetic drumming seems to force Elvis to give more effort to certain songs. -------------------- "How do I get placed in situations like this? Alot of people will state that the best '76 shows are from december of that year. And rightly so, many of them are. But the March shows also give me alot of pleasure. This one ( Polk Salad COOKS !!! ) and Running For President are super shows !!!!

I agree Chris, those March 1976 shows were strong indeed...This one being one of my favorites...Elvis seems to be in a great mood and puts on one helluva performace !
