It's a pretty good release I think Spring Tours is a little bit stronger but My favorite tracks are Love Me, Blueberry Hill, Release Me, Trying To Get To You Little Sister, Jailhouse Rock, Where No One Stands Alone has a little bit of hiss to it. It's a good album overall though. That's just from a cursory listen.

haven't listened to it completely. it's a 'typical' early '77 show, though not the best from the tour. Elvis sounds short of breath (more so than the next night), but is enjoying himself on stage. Sound is good with Elvis a little in the background compared to the band.
Worth the price alone for that brilliant version of Reconsider Baby, which imo is the best version around (and with that I don't mean it has to be the most powerfull version or something like that .... it's just that his tired voice fits the song perfectly this particular evening and gives it an even more bluesier feel than it already had) -------------------- "How do I get placed in situations like this? Ah hell, I guess it's all part of showbusiness "~ Elvis in his limo on his way to perform in Omaha, NE on June 19th 1977

Probably the worst FTD till now, it's even worse than TUCSON 76, to go along with it, it has the worst front cover i've ever seen.
Of course, there are people that will always be delight with ANY release. |

Just got mine too (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) very similar to one i restored a while back ...
COMING ON STRONG (Southern Style 6977) (Released 1999), although i have to admit i agree with the majority of folks ... its the weakest for a mile (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) and i think i prefer the performance [and sound (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) ] on the Southern Style release .... are FTD scraping the barrell ? hope not (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) -------------------- |

should they release Omaha or Kansas '77 then??
now THOSE are weak shows Yes, considering the price of the FTDs it seems like they should release only the best. I think that Elvis' performance is not as bad as some people say..IMO it's quite good especially for the period. I've said this time and time again...the cover SUCKS!...only the pictures give it a quasi-decent look. i still can't understand why Where No One Stands Alone has that hiss. So...the cover and that hiss put these release down but the rest i think is worth every penny. -------------------- I'd rather go on hearing your lies....than smell your armpits son

QUOTE (Gordon @ Jan 19 2007, 06:08 PM) No, they don't ! They should release everything that represents Elvis the artist. This means the good and the bad !! I wish people could understand that ! Besides that, as Gordon rightfully mentioned already, this concert is defenatily not a bad one. It's a decent concert and Elvis is in a good, happy and friendly mood. What most people fortget when listening to these concerts is the importance of "being there". Elvis performed for those who were there that night and not for us bunch fantatics listening to his performances 30 years after he gave them. If 95% of the fans left satisfied that night in Charlotte then Elvis did his job right. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Regarding the cover: I think it's adequate. Besides that I'm paying for the music and not for a piece of carton with Elvis image on it. I've never heard anyone complain when the original SUN records were sold in just a brown bag (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) regarding "Where No One Stands Alone": if it's a mastering error the disc's should be replaced. If BMG has an inferior copy and this is what they have, well .. i don't have a problem with it as I have that performance in better sound already on several bootlegs. I know it, BMG knows it ! -------------------- "How do I get placed in situations like this? You pay for the whole product, although of course the content is the most important thing....Adequate is about the best i could give it....so i guess we agree (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) -------------------- |

If it were only that we'd be happy with a pirate copy and not bother to buy the actual release at all....would you blame us?? -------------------- I'd rather go on hearing your lies....than smell your armpits son

the art work leaves something to be desired, and i'm sure theycould have released a better sounboard performance[lord knows they have a pile of em] ,the highlights for me were trying to... unchained, and of course the inclusion of the attempt at moody blue, where no one stands alone[ albeit in the same quality as the boot from baxter some years ago] way to little to get exited about, anyoneelse have the srecching sound on WHERE NOONE STANDS... that i do - i would file this release under non essential but nice to have.

you know i would love to see some essential rel;eases like a revamped edition of elvis in concert with some bonus tracks [he sounds as though he's singing behind a bed quilt] also would love for the release of bot uniondale shows from 75[we know they have them] and at least a cleaned up version of indi/77 [a dae tape exists of this show that the booters done some years ago , so i can imagine waht ftd could use and do] this ws to be a collectors label so how come the booters are still doing a better job-art wiae and releases? lets get with it ernst .

Discovered something cool on this cd..
After "Hound dog" he sings a line of "My wish came true"...very softly...but how nice to hear!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumbup.gif) I like this FTD,altough i had tracks before on the audience recordings and "Moody Blue"(Baxter) and Coming on strong". . It gives a fine look at a fine tour. The first one of 1977. He was not as strong as the previous december one,but still, his voice is rich and deep. He sings,he sings very beautiful..."Unchained melody" for instance is so very well done.. Elvis and his piano,so basic....the gospel "Where no one stands allone" is a highlight too. An underrated FTD imo (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piano.gif) -------------------- |

I like the cover.
Reconsider Baby is cool, as mentioned above his tired voice fits nicely (though his guitar work is a bit dubious). Where No One Stands Alone is magnificent but it is disappointing the sound on FTD is not as good as the bootleg. |
