This took place at one of the many Elvis concerts I attended in the 1970's.

It was Monday evening, June 28, 1976, at the Spectrum in Philadelphia. Elvis was doing a medley of some of his 1950’s hits. In order he sang “All Shook Up,” and a medley of “Teddy Bear / Don’t Be Cruel." Elvis sang them well. You could hear all of the words and he seemed to be enjoying them. Sure, there were scarves being handed out and some audience interaction, but Elvis was obviously having fun and so was the audience. There was one amazing moment I will never forget which happened during this medley. I had seats out in front of the stage but slightly off to the side. The front of the stage was mobbed with people as you would imagine as Elvis was giving out the scarves. At the end of the stage where The Stamps were seated, Elvis tossed a scarf and it fell between two woman who both lunged for it. I saw them scuffling, and since Elvis was walking away from that area no one seemed to be paying much attention to that particular area. As the two women wrestled, I saw the scarf sitting on the floor. I couldn't believe that no one else saw it. I sprang to my feet and ran the couple of rows to the front of the stage, reached down through a sea of legs, and picked up the scarf. With the scarf locked tightly in both of my hands, I raced back to my seat. As I sat down in my seat I noticed that the two woman had stopped wrestling and were now frantically searching the floor for the scarf! I no sooner sat down then I heard Elvis concluding "Don't Be Cruel." As we all stopped applauding, I handed the scarf to my mother whom I had taken to the show with me!

Great entry Scatter! (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

It was a white scarf that Charlie had just placed around Elvis' neck. It wasn't there long before Elvis flicked it into the crowd. I was really fortunate to get it before those two woman stopped battling each other. (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/woohoo.gif)

By the way, I live in New Jersey! (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/wiggle.gif)

Better tell me your address and not Scat Man.....he might think of a means to steal it away! (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/whistling.gif)

What a great story, those are kodak moments missed when those kinds of things happen. Now days someone would have gotten you on film.

It wasn't Elvis but at a George Strait Concert the same thing happened to me over a pick except I was pushed down in the middle of the "cat" fight...I was backing out of the crowd on my knees and my little finger touched on something smooth there in the dirt..sure enough I got that pick! George was watching the "cat" fight and when I stood up and held the pick up to see if it was what I thought it was he grinned really big. When I stuck it down in my bra real quick he started laughing so hard he couldn't sing. I've been handed 4 picks since then! lol Guess he thought I earned them for the battle scars back in the 80's.

But An Elvis scarf would be the ultimate token....other than an Elvis kiss! (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/wub.gif)

Great insight for us to know something tangible from an Elvis concert. How many Elvis shows you saw Memmphis man? I understand that you saw many from Philly right? Than you saw Uniondale 1975 and MSG 1972?
forgive me if I search through your old posts (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/whistling.gif)

I was born in 1972 and you were watching Elvis in concert,..... (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Hi carlito

Yes I was fortunate to have seen Elvis several times in the 1970's. I was just a teenager but wrote down the events and my recollection of the show following the shows. I did that so that I would have an accurate memory of what actually happened. I didn't want my memory to fade or become forgetful so I wrote the memories down.
And yes, I saw Elvis at the Spectrum in 1971, 1974 (2 shows), 1976 and 1977. The show at MSG (the afternoon show on Saturday June 10) was amazing! Also was part of the shows in Uniondale (1973 and 1975) and a couple of others. Each was different and a special event in their own right. Many of the things written about Elvis' performances (especially in 1976 and 1977) are not totally accurate, at least as far as the shows I attended are concerned.

Thank you memphis man for the reply.
Would you please share with us your memories by copy as they are written back than by you on your diary? It would be a wanderful 'first hand' point of view by one who was there. Not what you remember now, but what you written back then,......the best would be scanns from your pages (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/whistling.gif) but I don't want ask you to much. (IMG:http://elvis-tkc.com/forum2/style_emoticons/default/notworthy.gif)
p.s. forgive me for some mistakes on my english.

THANK YOU, Friends, for your kind comments and for taking the time to read this story. I agree, I was very fortunate to have been able to see Elvis perform. I have images printed on my mind from those shows which will be there forever!

Thanks again
