How Do You Think I Feel?

Lyrics:

(Walker - Pierce)

How do you think I feel?

I know your love's not real
The girl I'm mad about is just a gadabout
How do you think I feel?

How do you think we stand?
I know you've made your plan
But you've included free
And that's too much for me
How do you think I feel?

I won't be true again
I know that I can't win
So why should I pretend
That you still love me?

Studio Session for Sun Records, March 5, 1955

Tryout 2:46 Tape features Scotty Moore's guitar. (Elvis off-mike)
Tryout 1:17

Musicians:

Guitar :
Elvis Presley

Guitar :
Scotty Moore

Bass :
Bill Black

Drums :
Jimmie Lott

Studio : Sun Studio, Memphis, Tennessee

Producer / Engineer : Sam Phillips

Note:

Just before the first How Do You Think I Feel? tryout Scotty Moore can be heard playing the Blues Stay Away From Me riff used on the slow version of I'm Left, You're Right. This tryout does feature drums so it's not impossible that the slow version was recorded earlier on March 5, 1955 instead of November 15, 1954.

It's rather strange if You're a Heartbreaker was rehearsed two months after it was released as a single. The information that How Do You Think I Feel? and You're a Heartbreaker were rehearsed at this session comes from drummer Jimmie Lott's memory (see booklet of 50's Box) and it seems that the master of I'm Left, You're Right, She's Gone and the How Do You Think I Feel? tryout are the only known recordings with Jimmy Lott on drums. So the date could be correct, but it's not safe to say that You're a Heartbreaker really was rehearsed on this session. Lee Cotten suggests that both versions I'm Left, You're Right may have been recorded on November 15, 1954.
